HCB's Journal, 16 Dec 12

I am in a weird space the last few days - I am not eating much but struggling to avoid refined carbs and extra fats so I still am hitting my RDI and above...I know if I pound the proteins, I will be satiated and happier with the outcome on the "Idiot Box."

My mantra: Low fat, low carb, high protein...Low fat, low carb, high protein...Low fat, low carb, high protein...

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today

You know what works and what your body needs. This is the first time I've been dieting in winter. Earlier this year I started in January, and I guess that was winter, but it's different with the ONSET of winter. My body actually DOES crave carbs. I DO want to hibernate. Sitting in the house all day eating cinammon rolls and chili with cheese and sour cream, watching cable tv sounds DIVINE. It is much harder to motivate yourself to exercise, even if is indoors. Spring and summer have a lot more fresh fruits and vegetables, and it seems to be naturally what your body wants. I can imagine living in Minnesota makes the winter months even harder, for winter lasts even longer. You sound like you're doing a great job as usual. The scale will go down. My scale will go down, too. It's gonna move!

I just looked at your photos on your bio page -- amazing work you! Do you measure? I don't but should start as my treadmill arrives tomorrow and I don't want Sunbeam discouraging me if muscle weight stops the needle from moving.

You are doing great! You have been through a lot in the last few weeks and that is bound to take it's toll. Keep your mantra up and you will come through the other side. I know I have been craving carbs too and I think part of it is all the smells of Christmas.

I am thinking of you and knowing you are in a tough plays these days but you will win this. Maybe head out to your favorite butcher and get a big roast, some chicken, fish, steak or whatever protein you love and some great veggies to go along with it and do some cooking to get your mind off things. You are a success story girlie!

I like your Mantra! Hang in there HCB. I think we are all struggling this time of year. I am not ready to throw in the towel yet. It will be a battle until Jan 1 thats for sure. I almost think its just the season or something magical taking over (and not for the good of us watching what we eat!).

Hang in there young lady. I know you will succeed with everything, you are a tough one. Keep the faith in yourself, as I have faith in you!

Be gentle with yourself. Repeat your mantra, have plenty of the right kind of foods for you around, and remember that you deserve to feel good and healthy. Have faith in yourself, take care of yourself. I've been having too many refined carbs & fat, and it feels yucky. I'm going to stop "sampling " my cookies and give them away; delivering to my apartment resident committee & select neighbors today, then will make some to take to Christmas Eve Dinner, then I'm done. Let's take good care of ourselves.
