Motivation for the day for you t2 diabetics. A friend sent this to me after he picked up his bottle of Imsulin this month. Suddenly he has become much more open to making a lifestyle change that will help him to at least get back to using justtMetformin.

Please tell your friend to talk to a Walmart pharmacist about their brand of insulin. Lots of diabetics can’t afford to manage their disease.

The cost of prescription medicine is outrageous. When my hubs isn’t following his diet and eats a bunch of crap he gets horrible gout outbreaks. Going rate for Colcrys (gout prevention) is $535.99 for a 1 month supply. 😓😓

It's insane, the cost. There were two different oral meds my doc prescribed - one was $800+ and the other was $1300+!! I didn't take them, I just doubled my metformin and continued to decrease the processed carbs and so far my blood sugar today was fasting 73 and after lunch it was 87. Not to say that's all your friend has to do but yes the meds are like punishment.

My son is T1 so he can't do without insulin. He isn't overweight at all b/c he tends to run high but some ppl are seriously dying from trying to ratio or go without insulin. We need to do something about this in the US! So awful!

Considering the development of insulin was funded with taxpayer money, no business should be able to make 1000% profit off of it. Ridiculous is mild to what I would say.

i think McDonalds, little Debbies, Burger King, all the chip and fast food companies got together and bought the Insulin companies so they could ensure themselves a continuos supply of “customers”. Soon the people who work at fast food places will be saying— Do you want Insulin with that?

There are three insulins available at Walmart for the price of $25 – NPH, Regular, and 70/30 (a mix of the two)
I don’t have diabetes but I recall a conversation a few weeks ago where a lady was telling someone about this. Just thought I’d pass the information along.

Yeah. Silver lining hoping it really could motivate some people but it’s also one step below highway robbery. Morally I mean. The problem is that if people cannot afford it then they end up skipping their meds. And wind up in the ER if they’re lucky.
