Draglist's Journal, 12 May 18

Woke at 213.6, down .8 from yesterday. Blood ketones were .5 millimolar, so just inside the ketosis range. That will only get better throughout the day as I fast until dinner. Waiting for the MRI results on my knee and watching YouTube videos to see if I can get some info on knee effusion (water on the knee). Some guy is taking three shots of tequila and is going to inject needles and syringes to remove his own water! Not this dude! Fasted until dinner. Did Lasix and flushed 78 ounces of black coffee and water (and I moved all that out and more!) Got my whoosh at the right time and got to 210.2 before dinner. Happy about that. Measured blood ketones and only got .4 millimolar! That is super weird as I did nothing but coffee and water all day (the same as yesterday). I'll trade that for the weight loss! Denise brought home some steamed shrimp from the store at 4:30, so I broke the fast early. Nothing until tomorrow!

Wow I wouldn't do that! The only time I have injected myself has been my epipen and only because I had to.

I have had horrible knee effusions. DO NOT let a dr drain it if you can help it. It’s best to do blood tests to determine the cause. No long term side effects from that!! Plus I had to go to multiple specialists to determine he cause and each of them wanted to drain and test the fluid—imagine if I had let them all do it. When I asked if it was really necessary they said it would marginally help them, for example one doc said it might rule out 1-2 of the 5 things he was thinking it could be caused by. Just wanted to give my 2 cents.

I would elevate the knee(s) and alternate warm and cold compresses. I have osteoarthritis and when I ski, I get fluid around the knees - it goes away within a few days.

I recently fell on my knee, tore ACL, menscus, strain my MCL and Sprain my PCL , my knee swelled up as big as a basketball .I was told take IB Profein, rotate cold ice pack and heating pad. I ised alot of Biofreeze Gel to freeze numb it. I had to have ACL reconstruction and part of my Menscus removed. Dr took ligament from my thigh mix it with a donor ligament , braided it like u do ladies hair and screw it in my tibia and femur bone. Talk about a long time recovery it has been rough. I’ve been in 7 braces. They change the length of braces , I have my range of motion but my knee gives out with me it wants to pivit inward. Difficulty with stairs. After being in so many braces for my knee it throws my walk off with a limb, my knee contributed to a ligamnent rupturing in my foot. Im just now begining to get better. It disrupts your life, standing, kneelin, walking for long period of times was awlful. It took consistancy and physical therapy to help get strength back. I feel for you, I tell wveryone protect your knees!!
