Hello Buddies!
Yesterday I spent the better portion of my day searching for a heart rate monitor to purchase. I have been reading about different types of exercise & the effects they have on weight management. I have learned that different types of exercise intensity triggers different biological changes in our bodies. Low Intensity/Light Aerobic activity burns FAT while High Intensity/Hard Aerobic activity burns GLUCOSE. The "controllers" of health & fitness thru-out the body & our Heart Rate is the ONLY way to know which is being used.
I *believe* I have been working out in BOTH 1st & 2nd Gears & want to hit 3rd every now & again.
1st Gear=Distance NOT Speed! Up to 65% of maximum heart rate.
2nd Gear=More Power/Less Mileage!66%-80% of maximum heart rate.
3rd Gear=Rocket Fuel!Quick Bursts of 85% of maximum heart rate & up.
Anyway,I got a Withings & soon realized that to get a heart rate reading I need to remove it from its wrist strap or its clip & then place my finger on the back side of it. Since I want to be able to know what my heart rate is just at a glance at different times thru-out my work out this would prove to be not very practical to me so I returned it & settled on a S7 slim.
The slim is worn like a watch & has buttons around the rim of its face that I push to get its readings. It has a 5 yr warranty & cost under $50. while with the Withings I could purchase a 2 yr warranty for $20. on top of the cost of $110.
Now to set it up & get used to how it works.
JUST ANOTHER WAY TO CELEBRATE HEALTHY!

Wow,what an ABSolutely wonderful way to begin my day!(That statement is partially sarcastic) I went out on my walk this morning & stopped in to book the clubhouse for a future day in June(that is when I plan on reaching my ultimate goal in weight!) & will be celebrating my "coming-out" party with just a few BUT very CLOSE friends :) Coming out from the layers of my ever so uncomfortable protective walls that I have buried myself beneath for far too long.(See my profile pic)They have served their purpose & I DO thank them for that. However I have & will continue to find better ways to deal with whatever comes my way in appropriate ways. Life is much to enjoyable not to live it as I know I am meant to! :)
I walked my 2 1/2 miles today & returned home to jump right into the Core Challenge work with the mindset of doing yesterdays workout & tagging on todays with it. How did I do??? Yesterdays challenge was to do 50 sit-ups & 50 crunches(check-check)35 leg raises & 40 second plank (check-check) :) Today I went from my 40 second plank into my 45 second plank(Wow,that got me shaking)I MADE IT! Then 55 sit-ups(check), 65 crunches---oops,not quite---35! I will do the other 30 later today along with the other 35 leg raises assigned for today! Plan on doing them before I eat again.:)
I finished up,sweat rolling off me like I was caught in a light rain, only for Keeper to announce :AAAAAAARRRGGGG!!! The court's shut off everyones water again!
:} Wha'dayado? Have a great Thursday everyone!

I have a slight weight gain of .2 this morning, after eating at friends house last night. Unamoyer calls it a "hiccup" :) But,I doubled my walk to 4 miles & *I* feel great! Confidant the "hiccup" will be no more. :)
The new scenery was an awesome mood booster as well.....other people walking, jogging, biking or just enjoying the views of nature that surrounds the river....water,trees,a crane soaking in the sun as it crouched down its neck & remained as still as a statue, as if trying not to be seen while others swam gracefully on the river's water, looking much like swans only with long beaks.
It was a great way to begin my day :)
Enjoy YOUR Monday!
