Wow, gardening and building new beds does increase your activity! I couldn't believe how many active minutes I had over the long weekend until I checked my fitbit. As one who has struggled through the quarantine with a desperately low activity count compared to my usual, this has been a spirit lifter! The hassle is I've no more space for more beds, lol!!

It's my 1 year anniversary of losing and maintaining my weight! I started out at 57 years old, 185lbs. I'm 5'9", but had a lot of flub attached to my mid section, including belly fat, even around my upper abdominal belly, and face, upper arms, it sort of looked swollen and pregnant looking,etc.. I come from a long and lean genetic background, but all of us really gain around the middle when we put on weight as middle and intermediate agers! For the first time, my Doctor expressed concern with my growing weight, rising cholesterol, and triglyceride profile. I knew my body shape was one that was becoming prone to the metabolic syndrome profile, and I really didn't want that to develop, or type 2 diabetes.
So I researched diets and thought that The DASH diet for weight loss would really apply to my health concerns. I had noticed that my appetite was lowering these last couple of years and thought maybe I could handle a calorie restricted healthier eating (whole foods) type of eating.
And here we are. I've lost 40 pounds in a year! I'll probably lose another 10 pounds over the next year, so long as I'm not in quarantine!
I feel lighter, I notice it when I haul out my garbage bins. I feel more sprite. My ankles and knees which were getting arthritic prone are so much less painful! My fingers aren't swollen, I can wear my old rings. Shopping is a joy as I now fit standard sizes between my waist and hip ratio. My new T shirts are Medium, my pants are better styled and the fit is awesome. My face is more chiseled, less chubby, as are my upper arms. My breast aren't these heavy, dense appendages anymore. I can't wait to get my blood work done to see if I've beat my cholesterol and triglyceride problem by diet and lifestyle alone.
I'm so grateful to all of you, because I see you here as much as I am, plugging away and letting our good choices become habits and a part of our everyday lifestyle!
This old chick is winning the battle of not getting metabolic syndrome!! Yay Me!!

It's going okay, some bites of chocolate this week but I didn't blow it! I can't wait to get digging and planting, but it's still too cool. I did a lot of work this week and it felt good to be productive and using my brain. Again, not much physicality to my days, I think I'm getting used to it. I haven't been spending and wasting food like I was the first month of quarantine. My appetite is in check. I think my tummy has grown softer and flabbier, I don't know if it's gravity falling or real, lol!

Losing 0.6 kg a Week
05 May 2020
I fluctuate up and down 3 lbs. But this was today and I think it's accurate. I'm much more productive and eating well this past week. Oh, I did have some chips, but overall I'm just trying not to gain with much less daily movement. I just made a hot curry with a new spicey paste I'm trying. I poured it over wholegrain steel cuts oats instead of rice because the oats absorb the heat, and I need the oats for the fiber to lower my cholesterol. They're higher in iron too, so that's good. it's been a bonus to meal prep my fish and chicken on the BBQ!! I hope everyone is well, I've been very nutritious the last few weeks, so I'm glad I'm out of the slump, and haven't gained lately.
