Not really showing a loss yet but to be honest, I'm not surprised. My calories were pretty good over last week but I basically went from zero to fifty in regard to exercising and boy am I feeling it in my muscles! I'm pretty confident that I'm retaining fluids right now which is a temporary thing. Putting weight aside, I'm focused on the fact that I already FEEL better. I didn't get a very good night's sleep last night, but I'm still pretty energized. I got a 20-minute workout in first thing this morning. I've reset my Fitbit to give me vibration reminders to get up and walk every hour, that's going to help a lot. Positive steps!

I went through a terrible bout of insomnia through February and March. It was the longest and worst I've ever had it and boy did it wreak havoc with my body. No energy for exercise, comfort eating all the wrong foods, exhausted all the time. I avoided stepping on the scales because I FELT overweight and awful. Had a conversation about it with my husband over the weekend and asked him to help hold me accountable (and I for him). This morning, I was up early, got thirty minutes of exercise in, made sure I had healthy food for breakfast and lunch . . . and stepped on the scales. I'm up five pounds. Not good but to be honest, I thought it would be worse than that. I can drop five pounds in two weeks if I set my mind to it. My mind is set. This is happening.

Lost 1.2 lbs but I'm not sure how. I've been battling insomnia again and it threw me off in a big way last week. I didn't plan my meals, log my food, exercise regularly or anything. I may have done okay with not going too crazy overboard with calories, but I definitely did NOT do okay with my food choices which compounded the issue of feeling run-down.
I've decided to try some supplements to see if that will help with the severity of the menopause symptoms I've been having. Terrible, insomnia, hot flashes, night sweats, foggy brain... it has been a challenge, that's for sure. I think the lack of sleep has triggered a bit of depression for me. I'm aware of it and making efforts to improve.
Being creative is kind of my therapy. It's not easy to get going when your motivation levels are low, but once I do, I get caught up in it. Yesterday I had the day off work and started a new pencil drawing. It's a late Christmas present for my son-in-law. I'm not quite finished with it yet but I made more progress on it than I thought I would. I think it helped my mental health a bit. Well, that and maybe getting more than two hours of sleep last night.

Today was just a comfort food kind of day. I think that may be my standing Monday theme. Egg and cheese on a muti-grain English muffin for breakfast. Took a shortcut at lunchtime and did a Lean Cuisine glazed turkey tenderloin with sweet potatoes and stuffing. I try not to do too many frozen meals because those things are loaded with sodium. For dinner, I did an open-faced bbq chicken sandwich and tried a new way to make sweet potato fries in the air fryer that was supposed to make them crispy. It did not. I don't think I used enough olive oil. The fries were still good though. My protein shake was cherry almond vanilla and my treat was a mandarin orange with dark chocolate. Another successful day of staying within my calories. I started incorporating exercise as well but I'm easing into it. Once I get well into the swing of things, I'll need to up my calories a bit.

Today's theme was Thai day! Breakfast was toast with peanut butter, cilantro, and siracha sauce- which is a combo I've never heard of or had before but was surprisingly good. Lunch was Curry Udon Noodles and dinner was Larb Gai (Thai chicken salad). For a snack, I had freeze-dried mangos with some vanilla yogurt and lime zest, also very good, and a vanilla almond protein shake. I ended up under calories today so I added in an apple.
