Here's a succinct New York Times article about low carb as a treatment for type II diabetes vs. bariatric surgery. Worth a 5 min read!

Great article Erica! I can't believe that anybody would recommend risky surgery as a routine treatment for type 2 diabetes. This is nuts. Plus, I've known two people over the years who had the surgery and after initial losses over time they began to eat again and slowly stretched their stomachs and began to eat again. For one of them it was particularly dangerous because he'd had the stapling procedure.

Great article! I believe in the low carb and Keto diets. They work! I am living proof that it works for diabetes and hypertension. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It seemed perfect to share here. Pass it on, if you know anyone who it might help.

It's heartening to see an article like that in a 'mainstream' publication. Let the wave roll in! Thanks for posting it.

WLS is NOT the miracle cure - it's a TOOL...you have to keep working with it for it to be successful, which is exactly what I plan on doing...you can't expect to keep your weight off if you start overeating, or 'cheating' on a regular basis...I had the Gastric Sleeve in July, and refuse to put my body thru all that, just to gain it back in 5 or 10 years :) (oh, I do not have diabetes)
