Bionici's Journal, 11 Nov 23

I had intended to make this entry on 11/5/23 and at that time was wrapped up with other priorities. On 11/5/2018 I began my journey to get back in physical shape. At the time my weight was 300 pounds. I had had 2 knee operations due to injury, a couple of cardiac ablations for AFIB, and various other issues that impacted my health. I've always worked out, but getting my eating under control was another matter. It was at that point I decided to start eating properly, and thus started strictly watching my calories, daily intake, & exercise. I started recording everything and keeping a statistical journal. Sometime later, I also started using FS as a help, and obviously everyone I've been in contact with on FS has been a positive influence to me in one way or another. On 11/11/2020, I hit my low weight of 171, was lower than when I had graduated from HS (190), lower than when in the Army (190+), and lower than the day I got married (219). My wife told me I looked "too skinny" when I was at 171, and wanted me to put some weight back on. You can see that weight in my profile picture. So, I let myself add 35 pounds, and have been cruising around 205 for quite a while. I would really like to be at 190. Working out 80 - 90 minutes 6 days a week, plus golf once a week, and keeping my calories under 2000 helps me be at 205 or below. There are setbacks from the holidays, vacations, and just eating out, but overall it has been a very positive adventure. So, I sit here at the computer wanting everyone to know that it can be done. I lost, at first, 129 pounds, but have leveled out at about 200. I have put a copy of a picture that was taken shortly prior to me beginning this journey and one that was taken when I weighed about 175 - 180. It just occurred to me that my wife is wearing the same dress & jacket in both pictures. Everyone enjoy this weekend, and to all of my fellow brothers who served in Vietnam,....Welcome Home. To all of the other veterans who have served,...Happy Veterans Day. Everyone keep focused, keep exercising, and keep losing / maintaining your weight. And, by the way, my 1st name is Tom. God is good !!

Outstanding and I applaude you for your achievement. I do agree with your wife, I think 200 or 210 would be a better weight. Welcome home and thanks for your service. I remember returing from Vietnam in 1969....not a very good welcome at that time but we all managed to work around the hatred. My goal is to get back to my wieght right after I left the Marine Corp (145). I have lost 25lbs in the last year and a half so I'm not far from my goal. Best of luck to you
