Katsolo mentioned her hesitancy to use Instacart for groceries because of the high cost. I began using a delivery service one hot summer when I weighed 300 pounds and struggled with getting my groceries home (I use a walker, which was part of the difficulty). Since then, I am carrying 100 pounds less every day and Instacart (and groceries) has become more expensive, and less efficient. So, in August I decided to start doing my own grocery shopping again, and comparing the costs. In two months, I have saved $408, $268 on groceries and $140 in tips (I tip the person who shops & delivers my groceries). That's an average of $45 each week, not bad for the approximately 60 minutes it takes me to shop.

Unfortunately, I’m always calculating net carbs to minimize them. Spend too much time doing that and too much time in the grocery store.

So much inspiration in your story!❣️ Few things are better than losing 100 lbs and saving a lot of $$$. 👍👍

Bottom Line, that is a problem. I eat whatever carbs happen to be in my plate, so that isn't an issue for me. Thanks 2melons, I agree.

That is helpful information. I need to start doing my own shopping to save money now too because I am not working full time hours at this time. That is a significant savings.

You are slaying it Shirl! My husband is a great shopper so I just make out my list and he does the shopping. He is a great comparison shopper and I'm very blessed!

I'm only 2 months into this, but if I continue to average $45 per week that's a savings of $2,340 a year.

I don't mind shopping, so I have never had grocery delivery. Although, I could have staples delivered, I prefer picking out my own fruits, veggies & meat/fish. As long as I'm there anyway, I might as well pick up everything.

A good number of products I use everyday are no longer to be found in stores- why? Good question. Amazon to the rescue. I have PRIME so delivery costs nothing and often the price of an item is less than I was paying at the store. Otherwise, I do my own shopping.

Kenneth, I agree, Amazon is great for many things.

Over 2 grand a year is huge, shirfleur. It's amazing how stuff like that adds up. During the pandemic, we went with pre-ordering our groceries and having them dropped in the car trunk, but never had delivery. Did help cut down on impulse purchases, and was easy, but we do like to actually go to the store so we can pick our own produce now

I haven’t gotten groceries delivered since I lived in the UK in 2016. I didn’t trust their water so I ordered A LOT of water when I moved into my flat, delivery guy was so upset at having to offload all that water 😮‍💨😅 Yay to saving $$$ especially in these economic times

I have never used that service. I'm sure it helps many, but cost quite a bit. We went shopping last week and our total was over $300. Mind you, this was without any luxury items. The only meat I bought was organic ground beef 93/7. I was pretty shocked. I do my best to purchase the store brand as well.

100 pounds off and saving money! That’s amazing in so many ways.

We used it a lot during the plague and I figured out I was paying $1200/year for it. That was sharing between two and sometimes three households, but that’s a lot of money. It’s even more expensive now.
