I have gone backward. Age work and stress took me backward. My weight went up to 351, so I am on the mend. I have not been on the site since 2021. 27 ibs. And most of it went to my belly. I have a job that keeps me sitting most of the day. I, however, never give up. Started working out again and fasting twice a week. It is the only thing that consistently works for me. It allows me to still eat without restrictions. I am staying away from sugar and salt.
I can't allow myself to go backward anymore.

Stress just means you need to find an outlet to help lower it's impact. It can be anything like a hobby, meditation, or some form of enjoyable exercise like dancing or boxing. I have found that a sedentary job doesn't mean your life has to be the same. Find and exercise that you enjoy and set it up as your play time either after dinner or early morning. I used to go on YouTube and do kickboxing and dancing exercises after dinner. (Can't now, due to a medical condition...but I will find something I can do.)

Age does not preclude a more active lifestyle. You might consider activities that not only increase calorie burn but are also beneficial to bones and joints. Good old walking is a great place to start. Most people can do it. Even pool walking, swimming are excellent choices for obese people, older people or people with mobility issues.

There are sites that specifically address how to incorporate movement into your sedentary desk jobs. It’s hard, that is for sure, but I hate seen some creative ideas.

Investigate some "Chair Yoga" moves that can become part of a routine. This probably really dating me, but I'd sit up straight and reach for the ceiling with the top of my head as I said, "Good morning, it's Grace. How can I help you."

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Strength training will increase your metabolism more v. cardio as we get older. Maybe go on-line and find a calorie calculator to find the calorie deficit you need. You usually put in your age, height and activity level. I track my food w a scale and FS. Takes the guesswork out. Good luck!
