Anyone ever had a tongue biopsy? It’s not fun! The numbing stuff the special dentist used is just like the normal dentist and of course doesn’t taste anything like a pina colada! 😝 The numbing shot was worse than the biopsy itself but not as bad as the regular dentist for an extraction or root canal. I talked funny for the first hour probably lol.

Food… oh food… how I miss you when I’m supposed to eat yet can’t really eat but I don’t miss you when I’m doing one meal a day or a 16:8 fasting like I have been several times each week lately. Soft foods only that are high protein and a caloric surplus for at least 3-7 days to promote healing. Anyone know of any soft meat that’s not fish?? Canned tuna is the only fish I can eat and not be sick so I see that in my future lol. Eggs too but kids don’t care for eggs so I limit how often I cook them and I don’t care for hard boiled eggs.

Drinking is a challenge too! No straws but drinking from a cup or bottle makes the tongue hurt! So yeah straw it is! Since it’s not an extraction they said to limit it rather than completely avoid.

But ya’all! It’s not bad pain but so damn annoying! I would put it at a 4-6 on the 10 point pain scale throughout the day. It’s like a leg cramp or Charlie horse. Everything is great then you move the tongue just right and it almost takes ya down 😝. Certain words will send a shooting pain in my tongue. It’s a radiating pain that has moved to my bottom jaw and starting a bit in the top jaw and where they meet. Wouldn’t be so bad if I’d shut up and not talk lol. Advil before bed for sure because it’s just bad enough to keep me awake (insomnia anyway), but not bad enough that I’d normally take something for it. They normally prescribe Norco which I refused do to a hydrocodone allergy. They respected my choice to go with Advil or nothing. The breast biopsy was easier day by day but they said the tongue will be worse on day 3. Yay! Not… We will be with family that day so lots of talking and I haven’t told anyone except two of my closest friends, my husband and recently (today) my children. It could be anything. Cancer, a huge oddly shaped canker sore, the dr just can’t tell and said this was the only way to know. Why worry anyone when it is probably nothing? Why have people tell me I’m just looking for cancer since I’ve had it before? I just want to be proactive early and make sure it’s nothing since two dentists and a hygienist have no idea what it is.

So prayers, positive vibes or whatever your beliefs are or whatever your into would be welcome! At this point it is what it is and I don’t believe it could change from cancer to a canker sore or anything like that but I will appreciate any prayers or positive vibes! 😊

No worries. Or not much anyway and with anxiety that’s saying something! No fear, no stressing… because if it’s bad then been there done that and I can do it again! If it’s something small or ‘good’ then that’s great. Probably something completely odd and rare with my luck lol. Perhaps my tongue is growing a little white baby tongue! Anywho… I’ve got this no matter what it is. What I’m not doing so well with is not talking! And not eating or eating the ‘right’ foods! (There IS some protein in chocolate Easter candy right?!?)

Oh and ya know me and my sweet tooth. “Don’t eat anything spicy” Yeah I grabbed some hot tamales candy when reading and realized it as I bit in. Oh well, let’s see what happens right? Nothing! Ate them on the opposite side and while they did seem to be more cinnamony it wasn’t ‘spicy’ or anything. Decided against chili for dinner however 😝.

Happy soon to be Friday everyone!

Oh Peepers, I hope you feel better soon and I will pray for you. Do you have a Costco near you? They have canned chicken which I think is good. You have a great attitude which always goes a long way in the healing process.

It sounds awful! I had never heard of (or thought about) a biopsy on the tongue but it sounds painful. Hopefully it heals quickly. I looked through my cupboards for soft food to see what foods I would try. You said you wanted soft meat. Could you make a meatloaf? That is pretty soft. I make mine with cream of mushroom soup instead of a tomato base. I have cans of corned beef hash , maybe that would work for you especially if you need a calorie surplus. Can you drink milk for protein? What about making pudding? I will send prayers your way for a quick recovery and a good outcome.

Hey, just seeing this. You know I’ll be praying for you. How about some of that canned beef they have from Argentina? I actually like it even though I rarely see it. I think they have it at Costco/Sams. Pulled pork like you put in tacos would be soft too.

Not the tongue but I’ve had a biopsy of the roof of my mouth. I learned quickly that hot liquids would bust it open, so I struggled with drinking coffee. Just keep a wad of gauze on hand and a spit cup nearby. Mine healed in 3 days.

Praying for you and thinking about you. The sores are bad enough. Certainly don’t need all this. 🙏

Wow! I am overwhelmed. Thank you everyone! As for milk shakes I’m lactose intolerant but did have a bit of ice cream. Not worth the stomach upset however. Starting tomorrow I can eat whatever I want as long as I can tolerate it. I’m not a meatloaf fan but today my aunt made us sloppy joe’s (again not a fan but it was good and soft). If I cook it’ll probably be mac and cheese with tuna and cream soup to thicken the sauce. Fairly easy to eat and I love it. Tuna is the only fish I can eat and not be sick so I try to add it in off and on so I get the vitamins and stuff only fish can give me. I really should eat it weekly!

As for pain it’s not bad. They tell me I have a high pain tolerance but I don’t believe them. It’s the constant pain that gets me. But this has been off and on so not bad at all! Took Advil before bed the first night and nothing since. It’s a little sore when I wake up. Probably from chewing on and sucking on my tongue when I sleep 😝. Cold beverages help but swallowing from a cup or bottle still isn’t pleasant. I have straws so it’s all good! I never thought about hot foods and drinks! I had coffee this morning so when it read that I checked it and it looks fine. But I don’t drink it super hot. I let it sit a few minutes because I hate when it burns my mouth lol. I haven’t eaten any hot foods either. Everything sits while I make everyone’s plates and when eating fast food it’s all been given to us already room temperature 😞. All in all it’s not bad. There is a small indent where they took a sample and the one they put a stitch in is invisible. I can just barely tell it’s there when I look closely. Just a tiny white line and honestly I think that’s the end of the stitch. They say I’m a really slow healer so I expected more swelling, redness and maybe some bleeding but guess my tongue heals faster than the rest of me. Probably because I sue it so much because I talk…a… LOT! 😝

Oh pulled pork! I thought about that yesterday. The last track meet at that school had a bbq food truck with pulled pork ion homemade mac and cheese. Unfortunately they didn’t come this time because that’s what I had planned to eat. As for positivity it’s a choice. Worry and stress are linked to making tumors grow faster. Why invite that? It is what it is and I don’t even know WHAT it is lol. I will deal with whatever it is when they tell me. No sense worrying or being upset before I even have any information. Which is odd because normally my anxiety flares up and makes me worried and stressed over small things. This just seems best to leave in God’s hands and let Him worry (yes I know He doesn’t worry)! I’ve went over the options in my head and I’m still researching but as a survivor my options will be limited somewhat if that’s it. But I think there’s only one type I can’t have more of so there will be tons of other chemo I can take or rads or surgery. And honestly it’s probably something totally common (but the drs should’ve recognized it then I’d think) or something totally harmless but rare. I’m the one who gets the rare stuff lol. (Like who do you know who takes care of someone with covid, was exposed over and over but didn’t get it? Sometimes the getting rare stuff or being ‘odd’ works in my favor!)

Yes! It’s chronic inflammation is all. They have no idea why or what’s causing it but it’s nothing bad! Yay!
