Good Mornin FSF 🌞👋

I'm posting about 'mistakes' today because we ALL make them. They are a part of living and learning, but they are NOT the end of the world! I carry a heavy load of shame over mistakes I've made over my lifetime...but I am trying to learn to let that shame go...let it go like a balloon rising up into the air 🎈 and releasing each shameful action/decision into the forgiving hands of my Father.

The same goes for my health/wt loss/fitness journey. I learn somethin new every day or come to the realization that there's a different, more efficient way FOR ME to approach my goals and accept my stumbles.

Maybe we can help each other with this...by being openminded, forgiving, accepting and encouraging one another...even if we disagree on the fine points.

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday!!💙💙

Interesting, I focusing on my lack of shame for the mistakes I've made in the past that have recently come back to haunt me. I talk myself down because I know there are no mulligans when it comes to mistakes. I own them, apologize for them, and deeply regret them, but I have to release them. Even though this is a food related post it still spoke to me. I do hold tight to the One who has released me for the shackles of shame and guilt.

@adam...Thank you for sharing this comment. I think that shame/regret can effect our eating and also lead to lethargy about exercise/fitness goals, don't you?

since I am not dieting but changing my habits of eating to prevent the use of medication for my prediabetes, I was told by my doctor to lower my carbs and increase my fiber.

@Dougettasue...that makes perfect sense and you should follow your Dr's orders, for sure! That's what I mean, about everyone's 'health program' is different and we are here to just encourage & support each other to follow whatever regimen that is. Thanks for stopping by my page & commenting! Nice to meet you 👋👍

Don’t negate the value of cardio. Strength training is very important on many levels but so is cardio and just walking. Not everyone has a home gym or can easily get to a gym. It is also important to find activities that can include other people like just simply walking, bike riding. You can meet friends and walk, talk, complain about your kids (or parents) and solve the problems of the world. It makes the time fly and before you know it you have logged miles. Walking is also great for your bones. Swimming is fabulous. Lots of activities fall into the exercise category. Keep your mind open to options. Also, if you restrict yourself to just one exercise option your body eventually works more efficiently at that activity and will actually burn fewer calories doing it. Shake things up.

@Kenna...I agree! ANY movement, especially enjoyable activities, is better than being sedentary. I think maybe the chart was referring to more of a balance between the 2? When I first started 'exercising' a few months ago, I didn't even consider lifting ANY kind of wts. I don't go to a gym or have a home gym either, but I picked up some small weights at the thrift store and use them with YouTube videos that focus on BOTH cardio & strength training for seniors. You are right that exercise is way more fun with others...that's why I enjoy Letty's Zoom sessions so much 💙💪👍

Well I want to say I am really encouraged reading all these comments! Thanks girls! I lost my dad and best friend of over 40 years and I fell down-wayyyy down! But today was the day! I just walked 2.5 miles at my Y, bought a scale at Walmart and I’m getting out those hand weighs staring back at me! You know when all you think about is how fat you are it’s time, time to take charge. I was really encouraged reading a few articles by the Pioneer Woman and her 60 pound weight loss-ck it out! I downloaded the two free apps she uses and am going to try to stick w it this time! I’ve been thin before, loved it, and want back to that time. I know I’m older now so it’s not all about looks any more, it’s about my heath!! Thanks again❤️❤️!!

I definitely second what Kenna said, if you choose to run over lift, it won't stop your weight loss progress. I only run and I've done just fine 😆 The others though make sense!

LOL on the shaking protein thing. I was wondering about ##5 and 6. I am trying to understand why it make sense to focus on momentum or motivation or small wins over end goals. Is it because you will make better choices or maybe because they are more imminent and not so abstract?

For my weight loss I focused on low carb, high protein and low fat eating. It was what worked for me. Now I mostly do CICO. I still am cognisant of my carb intake though. I mostly weightlift but am trying to add a Hiit routine and a bodyweight only cardio workout just to mix it up. It feels a bit like my body was getting to used to body pump class 5 xs a week. I think we all have to find what works for us individually and stick with it. 💜💜

@liv001...I'm confused about #5 too. But #6 seems to be talking about celebrating the small milestones along the way to the end goal. Motivation: Why a person does something. Momentum: "Creating momentum in your life means doing a little more of the things that move you forward and a little less of the things that hold you back." (Origin Leadership Counseling, Brandon M. Downs)

@Diana...YES!! Exactly! "We all have to find what works for us individually and stick with it." 💙💙

This Carter Good has a ton of these memes. I take them each with a grain of salt, but they are good for conversation starters...if nothing else 🤷‍♀️

i think in both #5 & 6 they're referring to people that focus on the former instead of the latter and get complacent because of it. For example, a friend of mine keeps talking about how badly they want to loose weight and how their going to do it but hasn't taken ANY steps to do so. They're so focused on the "motivation" and the "end goal" that they just won't actually get started. That's my take on it anyway.

@Mimi...thanks for your comments today! In each of the examples, I got the sense that it's not 1 OR the other, but a combination of both. Just not an over emphasis on the first over the 2nd

I think I got #5
