Chickturu's Journal, 27 Mar 14

Today I'm feeling down. I did all wrong this week so far.

First of all, no breakfast most of the week. Wrong! By lunchtime I am completely starving...

Today my friends wanted to go to an italian place and my brain (already in panic mode because of the business trip) suggested to have some pasta, to which I said yes. Wrong again! I feel so bad not only because of the food I had but bcause the Vapiano pasta is super heavy and my stomach hurts, I got unused to it.

Exercise was off the table the whole week, and today as well... wrong, wrong.
I weighed in today and I'm 400gr. heavier than sunday, my 'official' weigh in day. Even though I haven't gone over my RDI this week, I have been close to it, and there you go... BUM! almost half a kilo up. :(

I feel this week was a complete step back and I feel bad. I tried my best given this week's conditions (tons of work, tons of biz. dinners, no sleep, no time to exercise) and still this was not enough. Cr*p.

Don't worry about it at all, you've been very good considering all of the circumstances. Sometimes life gets in the way and all we can do is try our best and you definitely have. Keep going you'll be fine x x x

You didn't do "wrong" this week! You learned about yourself and what your body wants. For example, your stomach hurt after you ate that pasta, so you know that you shouldn't eat that (at least not in that amount) because it didn't make you feel well. You also learned that exercise is an important contributor to your weight loss. Everyone has setbacks. Everyone. Don't beat yourself up over it. You're doing great! Cliche time: it's a journey, not a quick sprint. :)

Sometimes life just gets in the way of the best of plans. Right you learned about you some this week. It's ok it's a life long journey a week isn't going to sabotage you.

Skipping meals is definitely very "dangerous" because it makes it very difficult not to binge afterwards. It's also said it lowers your metabolism :P Regarding the weight result, don't take too seriously because it may actually not be related to fat. It may be just a normal fluctuation (water, bowel contents, etc). I would wait for a consistent trend to be sure and not give too much importance to that one result ;)

Ugh, @CT, I'm so sorry to hear you're having a tough week. Go back to basics. It really helps. And don't forget how far you've already come! I mean, you're down what 22 pounds in just a couple of months?? You're doing FANTASTIC! You can so do this... and beware of the carbs. I'd be willing to bet that's where things have changed for you recently. Carbs late in the day were killing me until I realized it. Look in the mirror, tell yourself you've SOOO GOT THIS, take a super hot shower with some loud music playing, and then go workout. Reset. And you're right back in it. Keep smiling! And let me know if you need anything. We're here for you.

I always gain a little fluid weight after eating pasta or pizza. It comes off after a day or two of getting back on track. Like everyone is saying - cut yourself some slack, you're doing great! One slip-up is not going to destroy all your hard work. Next week will be great!

Yes, the carbs are most definitely going to lead to water weight gain. Let it roll of your shoulders and move forward to a better week ahead. Trust me, for somebody who has been at it as long as I, these things happen. The difference between those who will ultimately be successful and those who will fall back in to old habits is the decision you make now. Keep moving forward, youll find it didnt set you back too far at all :-). Chin up!
