TXSnowman's Journal, 22 Feb 14

I believe that Spring may have Sprung down this way. The geese are here and the Cardinals are back. The songbirds were singing everywhere during my morning hike with the dogs. The weather has been beautiful. Starting the hikes every day before dawn, I have only needed a long-sleeve t-shirt or a light sweatshirt to keep comfortable.

I'm feeling very good about where I am, physically speaking. I like the way I feel and for once, I like the way I look. I was really pleased to see my weight graph line turn blue again. I know that it may be a silly thing, but it does make me happy. I was feeling particularly strong on my hike this morning. I think my current eating habit agrees with me, and my body is responding well to it. I am trying to maintain for the next 6 weeks. If I can keep my weight within 3 or 4 pounds of where I am until mid-April I'd be very pleased. I just want to be between 190 and 200 when I kick off my full-blown training regimen pre-summer.

I have to be in good shape for the "Fight for Air Climb" in April, Very good shape for my Grand Canyon expedition in June, and Great Shape for two months of hunting and guiding in the mountains of Arizona & New Mexico during September and October.

Well, its time to get to work. I hope that all of y'all have a Wonderful Weekend! Have Fun, take time to enjoy life, savor the love of family and the warmth of friendship...we only get one trip through and we should try to make the most of it!

I noticed you walk with 60 lbs. of weight. Do you load up a back pack? I am thinking about starting back up my hikes as well and I want to make them more challenging. Thanks and have a great weekend. Don't work too hard.

Fantastic! Great to see you focused and on track. Good luck with maintenance as this can be harder than actual weight loss because this needs to be done for the rest of your life. I also love how you incorporate lots of activity onto your plan. What is "Fight for Air Climb".

Toolman, I use a weight vest that has pockets on the inside to put small sand bags for the weight. I also carry a pack full of water. I weigh myself fully dressed and ready to hike and add weight to make it 250 lbs.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Great job getting things back under control, Snowman. You da man!!! It would be so nice to get hints of spring. Here in the Chicago area, things in the long-range forecast are still looking pretty bleak. Yech! Anyway, GREAT WORK! Keep it going! You and NorthernMusician (and Bill too?) are all going to maintenance right around the same time. You should start a club (along with Keld).

Thanks M2B. Egdw, the Fight for Air Climb is a charity run where you run to the top of a high-rise office tower instead of running along a road. The event raises money for The American Lung Association. A lot of people will climb carrying weight, fire-fighters do it in full break-out gear, and some even do it carrying children.
