bad things happen if I cook and prep at the same time ;)

also this was the first time I’d ever bought and cooked a whole bird. (don’t laugh). I made the broth and shredded chicken from him last night. thank you, mr chicken.

How easy is it to regulate the cooking time with an instapot. I know if I make soup like that. I know what veggies to add first and last etc. Does the instapot speed it up too much?

Liv, I used the pressure cook function to cook the bird, and then a second time to do the beans. each took 20 minutes, not counting warm-up & pressure release time. for the soup I just set it to "saute" with the lid off, at which point it's the same as a pot on the stove, basically.

I haven't tried to, say, convert a slow cooker recipe for it, but I can tell you that if you leave something like broccoli in there for more than 5 minutes at full pressure it'll probably get mushy. I use mine (at pressure) for rice, beans, and meat, otherwise just as an extra burner.

I love mine. Just put the quick cook veggies in last. I do refried beans in about 15 minutes. Only water amd spices, then when done I use my chopper wand and leave it in to keep warm.

JMB, yeah we’re very spoiled. That’s downtown SF in the picture, and the flat area in front is the Mission. Out on the deck you can see clear to Oakland. And lately someone cut down a tree that was blocking our view of Marin and the Golden Gate Bridge 😁
