RiverRes's Journal, 03 Mar 18

My personal keto journey marches on. I just completed my first 24-hour fast with minimal results. I will try again next week and see if that gets me off of the plateau. I am gradually losing, but not as fast as I would like. I found out about Powerade zero which is helping me with my leg cramps. Thank goodness! It is carb free and still has those electrolytes I need to combat the muscle cramps. I am working out 5 days a week - could my weight loss stall just be conversion to muscle? Measurements are down and that helps me keep going.

I just got the promotion I have been working toward for two years. I am grateful, but it is so long overdue that I am afraid it may not be enough. I have a decision to make - stay or go? I will need to do some exploration and soul searching on that.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi RiverRes, plateaus do happen and waiting them out takes a lot of patience! I generally don't fast because it depletes muscle mass and I have little to spare. Instead I do a 3 day Atkins Fat Fast, 5 feedings of 200 calories of 80 to 90 % fat, 1000 calorie total, with lots of water.

Congratulations on your promotion! Good luck on making your decisions for your future. There are pros and cons to everything. I take a age specific multivitamin which did cut down on the leg cramps. Read that vitamins are really a waste of time and money. However, I feel I have my bases covered in case I haven't taken in enough nutrients with the limited carbs I eat now. I haven't tried the PowerAde zero. I feel more confident with high/low calorie days than long fasts but the fasts do work for a lot of people. Plateaus do happen, just takes patience and persistence to get over them. So frustrating! :)

Five days a week? Don’t know any other details but you could definitely be adding muscle. Are you taking measurements, besides weight?

Congrats on the promotion!! I've always looked at stalls as my body trying to catch up with my choices.

Good luck on your promotion decision! I did a fast when I stalled and it definitely helped. I do a long (24-36hour) fast per week and the rest of my days I Follow a 16/8 schedule. Seems to work for me for now. I think gaining muscle does slow the "weight loss" so definitely a good idea to measure yourself.
