Instant Enlightenment, part 5

Self Esteem: can only come from the self.

And only attained by self honesty and complete integrity, where we don’t let ourselves get away with something we KNOW is wrong.

Of course, we sometimes do something we think is wrong.

First, admit it, to ourselves.

Second, Look at how we did it, how we can prevent ourselves from doing it again.

Third, accept it objectively, knowing no one is perfect.

Fourth, never lie to ourselves by Glossing over details, leaving out important things, or distorting history in a vain attempt to see ourselves as ‘better’.

COMPLETE Honesty requires courage.
and
the rewards are HUGE:
Inner Peace; Confidence; Trust in self; Nothing can shake your core
when your core is based on True Self Esteem.

or: We can go through life trying to make ourselves think we are better than others.
1. by competing with others.
2. by putting others down, so we falsely appear to ourselves as better.
3. by pumping up our ego.
4 by excelling in some area: sports, knowledge, status, fame.

None of these produce true self esteem.
All are dependent on others approval,
and vulnerable to disapproval.

Unconsciously, we know who we are.
Not knowing who we are consciously blinds us to others as well as ourselves.

It limits our intellect, our happiness, our ability to accept the ups and downs of life.

Self esteem has nothing to do with ‘better’ or ‘worse than’.

It only has to do with what we really think of ourselves.

We need to be kind and forgiving to ourselves.

We need to be accepting of our own faults, and to strive to improve, so that we attain a higher opinion of ourselves.

Find out what our shadow is.

and, always facing the light (only seeing what GOOD we have done), we cannot see our shadow.
The shadow that others see. :)

Shadow is the part of ourselves that we are not consciously aware of.
It’s can be unpleasant sides of our nature. Almost everyone else can see it.
It’s sometimes a pleasant side of our nature, that we are not aware of.
Almost everyone else can see this as well.
