Ah, I miss the first day of when I began dieting. I was so excited. I lost 4 pounds in one day. I figured, "10 more days to go. Cool." Such a dreamer. Half a pound is absolutely fine. I think our body makes us do it slow so we learn what we're actually supposed to be doing.

Lol ya... I guess I'm starting to question this LCHF thing too though.... like... we aren't really supposed to worry about calories yet all the super successful ones have under 1000 calories a day.... and I feel like if I'm told to be taking a multivitamin to supplement what I'm lacking in my diet... maybe my diet is wrong..... and all this coffee I think is messing with my heart... I feel it beating so hard on the days I have coffee and thats scary cause the main reason I needed to lose weight was so I didn't have a heart attack. ..... I'm starting to feel like calorie counting and eating clean will do about the same as LCHF. my calories were higher this week and my weightloss slower. ...... I just don't know what I believe anymore. my sister lost weight slower, sure... but she still lost 100 pounds with a super high carb diet by being vegan. .... ....... this feeling reminds be of being in grade 8 in a Catholic school. that was the year they wanted you to do 'confirmation' to say you would dedicate your life to being catholic but i didn't see the logistics of religion in general so I refused..... I'm starting to see LCHF in the same light as catholicism. ... Or maybe I'm thinking too much..

From looking at your food log way too much dairy, carb check try to keep it under 20g per day and also there is a lot of sugar in your dietary log you should add under the settings sugar to be monitored along with the other things you watch . You will be surprised exactly how much sugar you are actually ingesting in the food choices your making, these are all stalling material. But I think you have come along way.

I have been LCHF for over a year AND watched calories too. I am the type that eats eats eats a lot, if "allowed". I did 1200 cals, then dropped to 1000. I'm now contemplating dropping again. I've seen the suggestions of eating for the weight you WANT to be.....Turns out you (I) don't really NEED that much, mostly I just WANT it!

yes too much dairy I know... but the sugars other than the last 4 or so days really hasn't been that high. and I have generally been staying under 20 net carbs a day. I'm sure the dairy is stalling me, I expected it but what Im saying is ... if I didn't look at calories and just ate LCHF food.. would I still lose? or is it really just calorie counting?? OR must you do both?? but if you say both then what is the real answer to weightloss?? I just find that the more I read the more blurry this all seems to me....

My understanding of Atkins or LCHF is that you won't have the hunger eating this way so your calories will automatically be lower. This doesn't work for me as I am someone who has a problem stopping when full. I can easily overeat ANYTHING, so that is why I watch calories also

I have the same problem Rckc has. I agree, the main reason for counting cals is portion control.

Not to make things even more complicated, but have you considered intermittent fasting alongside your LCHF diet? Dr Jason Fung has done a lot of research on using the two in conjunction to counteract type 2 diabetes via weight loss. Could try something as simple as 16:8 (16hrs off 8hrs on) rather than the more drastic AD (alternate day) methods. Bottom line is plateaus will be hit in dieting, and it's usually the body's way of saying it's happy where it is, or it needs to switch gears in order to start dropping weight again. ....although .5lbs a week is really nothing to be sniffed at.

yes I do have an issue over eating when I'm pissed. .and I've been pissed off this last week lol .... yes I have been doing that fasting for like ... a month or two with nothing but coffee until somewhere between 12pm and 3pm.... eat until 7 or 8pm...

It's just I don't know what to focus on more... calories or LCHF... obviously I have to kick my dairy habbit... ok so that's all it is... fat keeps you from being as hungry and that keeps calories down ... that's all.... so essentially it is calorie counting in a way...

TOM???

The thing that I think is of main benefit of lchf is that you are more likely to become unsettled by weight swings due to the effect of carbs in your system since each gram of carbohydrate holds 3 grams of water. This means, depending on how much carbohydrate is in the system, you weight is likely to swing more significantly outside of an lchf diet. This is why I weigh daily and only accept the lowest weight for the week, though at this point in time I seem to have settled in at a stable weight as my carb intake is high and I'm not trying to lose weight. I'm glycogen loaded all the time. If I switched to lchf for a week, I'd see a fairly significant drop from it. If caffeine is hitting you the way you say, cut it back. Everyone has different tolerances. Calories are king, though calories can't be calculated dependably as food makeup ratios fat:protein:carb is not exactly consistent.

Oh, I used to do The Zone. It was a fat:protein:carb ratio diet. It worked great to a point and then stopped. At that point I switched to counting.
