Last week was weird. Ive been having problems with my blood sugar. Ive been toeing the line of "pre" for ages, but Ive been active and never had any problems. Well Im not active now, and Ive been baselining candy like its the end of the world. Maybe not that bad but... Last week I was fatigued and had a couple of blood sugar spikes/crashes. I had to lay down at least 3 times because I was just so tired. Thursday I went to bed at 7ish, at first just to lay down, and then I just couldnt get back up. And I laid there and shook for awhile, but felt better Friday morning. I tried to watch what I was eating on Friday but by noon I knew I needed to eat soon. I started getting shaky but I wanted to go and buy a glucose monitor. I also bought some beef jerky because I felt like I was having a meltdown of sorts. I thought that hte monitor would have strips but it didnt, and by the time I realized, I couldnt walk back in because I needed to go get a meal. Anyway, I finally got what I needed and Ive been trying to track my sugar after I wake and 2 hours after I eat. Im not sure when else I should be checking, or if what Im eating is helping. Id like to get a better idea before I contact my Dr., but if the effects dont start getting better then I will contact asap. Either way I will talk to him.

Anyway, Im going to try harder to track my food and get some movement everyday.

I am (well, used to be) pre. From what I know, when you're in the state of uncontrolled blood sugar and you need to determine the appropriate insulin amount, check upon waking, before a meal, after a meal, and 2 hours after a meal. That way you know all the spikes and drops. Once the blood sugar is under more control, checking upon waking and 2 hours after a meal is standard. However, it's based on your personal situation. I wouldn't wait to see the doctor, I would go right away.

I agree with what she said. I had gestational diabetes with last pregnancy and did the 4 standard ones she said but it would be good to do more at the beginning like she described. Yes see a Dr ASAP! That's scary. Too many things can go wrong when your insulin is off so it's not worth waiting. Hope you feel better soon and keep us updated!

I'm also mid range of pre- trying to get it lowered. Lowered one point since summer but have a few more points to go before out of that range. It's definitely not easy.

When i was pre-diabetic it coincided exactly with my diet. I was eating a lot of chocolate and ice cream. I would have a little binge on my days off and within an hour or so would be so sleepy and tired i couldnt stop myself from sleeping sometimes for hours. Deeply. This went on for several years. I wasn’t having a piece of chocolate i was having many many calories or an entire 4-pack of dove bars. Interestingly ive been off sugar since July 2022 and i dont think ive had one episode like that in 2023. Im also no longer pre-diabetic. You should go see your doctor tho. I get labs done every 4 months.
