Fritzy 22's Journal, 29 Jan 23

Going the wrong way. It wasn't a good week. I seem to have a problem at the end of most months. It's actually easier to stay on plan than to go off for a day or so because I find it hard to get right back on track. Next week won't be easier. I have lunch plans on 2 of the days and when I go out to eat I usually have what I want and not just have a garden salad where I am picking through the lettuce hoping to find a radish. I won't have dessert or drinks.

Weather has been nice but its starting to cool down a bit and there may be some rain today.

You can always ask for a cup of extra radishes for your salad— they shouldn’t charge you extra since it’s not a meat or cheese item. Just plan to eat just fruit for dinner, like grapes or pineapple, and your calories will stay in check. Maybe get a walk in those mornings, too 💚

Bananas, I was kidding about the radishes! I once went to lunch with a friend who had a great deli sandwich while I ordered a tiny side salad where the little bits of radishes was all there was in with the lettuce. I usually skip dinner, and often breakfast when I go out to lunch.

Most restaurants offer meal-sized salads at lunchtime and also post their menus in their windows outside, and then you know whether to go in or not. So this week can hold better dining experiences 🤗

I love radishes and feel all salads should have them.

Thanks DP - you may be right, but I tend to get really lazy and that doesn't sound like you

Thanks Morticia the only place a radish belongs is in a salad. I rarely eat them

Depends on the day... very lazy today. Currently watching Ghostbusters II for no reason. LOL

Fritzy, you had me rolling with the crack about radishes- good one!!😁👍 My mom always served radishes in a dish with salt. She was always skinny, yet a huge salt lover.🙃

When I go out, I have no salads - I get a protein with a starch usually baked potato and the veg of the day. I cut the protein in half and set the baked potato aside also - sometimes I just get a take out box right away. Eating lettuce isn't fun. But having the leftovers for the next meal makes cutting back worthwhile. Good luck - my weigh in is tomorrow

I love radishes! They are like salad candy to me!! But when I go out, I’m not going out to eat a dang radish! Ha! I’m usually wanting something that’s a pain to cook at home like fried fish! Or something I haven’t eaten in a while.

DP, it's been a real lazy day today. It rained lightly for hours so I didn't walk. I did cook another meatless stew because it was so good last week. Other than that I watched reruns of Star Trek, Next Gen.

Thanks Shrewdness! I do like whole radishes with salt once in awhile. When I was a kid my mom always kept cleaned, raw radishes, celery and carrots in the refrigerator for my sisters and I to snack on. Chips and other junk food was rare in those days.

Abba I'm meeting a former neighbor at Red Robin. We've been meeting there ever since I moved, usually 4 or 5 times a year but this is the first time since Covid. I know what I usually get but don't know if I want over 1500 calories for lunch. Depends on how hungry I am.

thanks Stormsgirl. I have my favorites when I go out to eat and it usually isn't a salad.

I ate out 3 times this weekend. I always make a plan by looking at the menu online before arriving. A lot of places are offering salads with a side of protein. I had an awesome roasted cauliflower salad with steak tips Fri. And a grilled chicken with sundried tomatoes and a salad on Sat. I def. don't rule out salad when I go out because it seems the places I've been going lately make them delish and protein options of chicken, salmon and steak tips are not the standard 'house salad' type. Last night I had a southwestern quinoa salad (not lettuce), lots of veg, black beans, southwestern spice and lime. I LOVE non lettuce salads - get tired of lettuce after a while!

Thanks BadJujugurl and Diana - I always look at the online menus in advance. But I've been to Red Robin so many times I know what I want. Most of their salads have similar calories as burgers and fries.
