Siegels's Journal, 10 Jan 23

very disappointing. was interviewing for new job for the last 4 days and really tried to live clean. the interviews went well. but I'm still way heavier than I'd like. I've gained 6 pounds of fat, maybe more and it seems impossible to go back to a normal, healthy body after messing it up for the past year. it's such a toxic working environment here, my new boss is a really horrible human being and she has no self awareness or insight into it. Gotta get out of this place, and be able to live a cleaner life so I can regain my health and happiness.

Do not get discouraged. I was 40 lbs above my weight when I was in my 40s and I religiously did Weight Watchers at the time, which created an awareness of what I consume during the day, and how often. I lost those 40 lbs. The reason I had so much self-control is that I had a REASON... which was to be fit to dance with my daughter on her 15th Birthday. That is an important celebration among Latinos. You have a great reason to keep going: to say goodbye to the monster. In the beginning, I would not walk or do any exercise. But I gradually added it, pathetically sometimes walking on a treadmill of 15 min. Then it got better. In the end, after months and months, I fit in my 18-year-old choir tuxedo. I got back the 40 lbs in 25 years after that. But by keeping track of what I am eating, and walking, going to stores and walking around, cleaning more so I get more exercise, I lost 15 lbs from August. This is not WW but it is the same idea. Have faith, and improve your efforts. Keep your eyes on the ball. Do not let her win. You are the captain of your soul and body. Cheers.

It is sad how one person can change the work environment and upset so many people that we make life decisions not based on anything but their toxicity. It bleeds into how we think, feel, and even relate to our family and friends. Better days are just around the corner and you will soon be back on track.

It will all work out for you Siegels. You are aware of the changes that need to take place, so you're halfway to success. 👍

I hope you find a new job you like. I hate to hear about the problems you are having and I can relate because I stayed at a toxic job for years. I was afraid to move on and when I did I was shocked at how much better my life became. And I was healthier. You will be too.

I hear you. We all hear you. And our hearts go out to you. Get rid of anything that gives you bad energy, bad feelings. Keep your feelers out for other job opportunities. Don’t watch the news if it’s bringing you down. Above all, carve out time for yourself EVERYDAY! You’ve heard about how when oxygen masks fall from above, put YOUR mask on first, then you can help others. This is a lesson that I learned when I retired. Then the weight FELL off me, because I didn’t have to eat a half of a cake to push down emotions. I don’t want you to have to wait till you retire. YOU DESERVE A BETTER LIFE! And you will get it! Feel the love from all of us, because we are all pulling for you! 🤩🤩🤩

Bad bossed ruin lives. Fact. My personal belief and experience is that most competent and ethical people avoid management positions. I hope you find a healthier work environment soon.

OMG !! I feel the exact same way as Siegels does.. I hate my job, Boss and the Enviroment is horrible. Work is where we spend the most of daily lives from waking up to going almost to bed.. UGH !! I'm hoping for a New 2023 Job and a better life

I was just thinking of the time spent at a job that Rudd was talking about. It consumes most of your day. First, I am so sorry you both have toxic bosses and second I too am rooting for both of you to be able to move away from that environment. My toxic life is only part of the time (with my disabled 86-year-old husband) which I am grateful for the times of peace and quiet. I'm praying you both are able to move on.

You’re trying your best with your current situation. Be gentle with yourself. We go up and down… it’s also winter time and January and February are really difficult months for morale. Cut yourself some slack, you’ll get back to where you were in a couple of months.
