I am trying one for creamy carrot soup that uses chickpeas instead of cream for the thickener.

I don’t like chickpeas but that makes me think of other things I can use to thicken sauce and soup, because I never feel full

If you puree about any vegg it acts as a thickener. When I do bean soup, I just use a potato masher just before done and simmer for 10-15 minutes more.

I eat a chunky vegetable soup and add tofu or others depends on what my refrigerator got a left over. 😋

I'm not the best person to give soup recommendations because I love the creamy ones too. I love Hot & Sour soup but I get takeout for that after several failed attempts making it. I usually make hardier soups as a replacement such as beef stew and chicken soup; heavy on the meat & veggies and no noodles or rice ( maybe a few red potatoes). Hope this helps.

I was researching the Keto diet and it’s something I could probably do for a longer time and not get bored. Soups heavy on the meat n veggies sounds like a winner

No such thing as a weight loss soup. Just simple wholesome food eaten in moderation. I do like cabbage soup. It’s simple chicken soup and you add shredded cabbage while cooking. Good luck.

As a former cook. You can make such soups. But they will have to not be salted(no flavor, and your body will still need sodium) and the fats skimmed off the soup. A clear soup. With your basics, onions, carrots and celery. Of course you already choose the type of protein you want first too if you add tofu for protein, wrap it on paper towels to dry it. Cook to sear then add to soup for better texture. A bouquet garnet added to the soup makes it taste better and richer.

I noticed you mentioned Keto in the comments. I made a low carb chicken, bacon, ranch soup = deliciousness. 🤷‍♀️ While I’m not a Keto advert, I personally have found it easier to maintain calorie reduction with lower carb, higher fat, higher protein, and higher fiber foods. I love creamy soups with real whole cream 😻

Sunflower With Keto u get to eat more protein which is something I love. I will turn down pasta and starch any day. Carbs are everybody’s enemy- and Keto is designed to “knock it out” 🥊

There's a trick to making soups creamy without using cream. We make a lot of dairy-free soups: vegetarian "chili", split pea soup, 3/4/5 bean soups, potato soups, and vegetable soups. Most all of the soups begin with the trinity of veggies carrots/onion/celery or replace carrots with sweet potatoes or rutabaga, or replace celery with anise root/fennel, and have a vegetable or mushroom broth. The trick to make it creamy is to take a portion of the soup after it's cooked, 1/3-1/2, and blend it smooth in a blender, then pour it back in.

If keto works for you, great, but carbs are not everyone's enemy. It's all about finding a way to eat where you can limit calories without being so miserable you can't sustain it. There are so, so many ways you could make soup to fit the WOE that works for you. Best of luck!
