Fritzy 22's Journal, 25 Oct 22

Gave in last night and had a toaster strudel. Then later I wanted grilled cheese but instead just made a cheese sandwich with one slice of potato bread and 2 slices American cheese.

Did a little walk yesterday and turned around just before the hill. I've noticed a big difference in steps on days where I do more around the house. The walks are usually 3000-4000 steps but to get 14k steps I just have to stay upright, not watch TV in bed or on the sofa all day. The day I vacuumed and mopped was the day with my highest number of steps. Yesterday I didn't even make it to 10,000 steps. I was tired all day and even took a nap.

I'm about to unfold the treadmill in my house to get the steps in since the shorter days are definitely here.

Processed food leads to more processed food, as you found out last night. Would you be willing to stuff the strudels down the garbage disposal, since you didn't buy them for yourself anyway? I know it's psychologically difficult to throw out food, but if it's not in your house, you can't eat it. Vacuuming and mopping is double-duty exercise (since it cleans and burns calories), so great job in getting that in! Keep at it, Fritzy! 👍🏻💛

I try to get my steps in every day but some days 10,000 steps is too much.

Thanks Katsolo - I got rid of a treadmill a couple years ago. I much prefer walking outside in the colder weather. Thanks Bananas. I sometimes throw out junk food but I actually love the toaster strudels - just hadn't bought them in about 10 years. If I can just have one, I'll keep them until they are gone (2 or 3 left). I am not totally giving up processed foods. Since I don't like to cook, I need them. I am trying to increase the fruits, vegetables and even beans in my diet. Went to the market today and got brussels sprouts (they had the tiny ones!), asparagus and onions to stir fry. Didn't buy any fruit but have some grapes in the freezer. Morticial -my first goal is 8600 steps and if I make that then 11,000. Yesterday I was somewhere around 10k and it wasn't easy.

You might as well fit a streudel in here and there to use them up. The step counter does make one more mindful but some days we have to do the best we can and not worry about it!:)

Thanks Navywife. I always wish I could have snacks in the house just to have something when I have cravings. But I find with most foods - like chips or anything from the bakery department I can't leave them alone until they're gone. So far I've been good with the toaster strudels. There are still some left and I've been home from vacation for 2 weeks! I am really noticing differences in how many steps I take when I'm up and moving around all day compared to days when I'm lazy or now that the weather is colder it's just cozier to stay bundled up watching TV all day.

I keep minimum snacks around. I know what you mean. Yes, these colder, shorter days make it hard. I do agree! Hope you have a great Friday!:)

Navywife - what's really hard when it is dark for 12 hours a day is when to let Bobby out. I've seen signs in my neighborhood for bear sightings recently and there are always mountain lion sighting. I let him out just before it gets dark - around 6:30 now but he can't wait until 7am to go out in the morning! I'm thinking of feeding him earlier and putting the water bowls away in the evening.

That would be scary! That would probably be a good idea to change his food and drink schedule!:)
