Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 Oct 22

Yesterday was the 4th and final day of my "liquids" only fast. Included tomato soup the past 2 days. I was thinking of food too much yesterday - wanting to make a pot roast or meat loaf. Chinese food and all kinds of things. The first couple days I didn't crave food at all. Not sure what I'll eat today but really want to go slowly breaking the fast. I've lost over 3 pounds in 4 days and don't want to show a 3 pound gain tomorrow. Really need protein so will probably have scrambled eggs today. Would like that to be all I add to what I've been doing the last few days but will see how hungry I am feeling.

Since going to physical therapy earlier this year I have forgotten about the stretches I was supposed to do for my hip and thigh pain. Now the pain is back. I can't bend my foot in or cross it over my knee to put on shoes without bad pain - that's what sent me to the doctor in the first place. And I have pain in the middle of the night needing to take the prescription Ibuprofen again. It may also be from walking too far without building up to it. The PT had me walking for 5 minutes then adding a minute a day until it started causing pain. Hills caused pain and I've been walking up hills for the past 3 days. But I don't want to stop walking so I will try to remember the simple little stretches and movements that helped so much when going to physical therapy.

I love scrambled eggs. I need to work on some exercises for my back, hips, and thighs.

Maybe go walking but avoid the hill for a bit!:)

Thanks Morticia - the eggs were good! I needed something somewhat solid to eat this morning. Thanks Navywife - we did walk this morning - to the top of the hill and then back down. I can't really think walking hurts me but I just have really tight muscles from extreme lack of activity for 2+ years of Covid. The hill is not really steep, I have just have had trouble with it the past couple of years when I've tried to start walking again. There are much bigger hills in my neighborhood. I did some of the stretches and simple movements I did in physical therapy today. Not hard, just taking the time to do them is easy to avoid.

Hard to understand why more people didn’t get OUTSIDE and just walk during Covid. That rationale escapes me.

Covid is not going away. We have 3 new variants here now including the one that has hit China so hard. So far it is primarily found in the New York area but will soon be everywhere I imagine..

Kenna - I basically stayed inside before vaccines were available and got so out of shape I couldn't walk far. At first we didn't know much about it. I remember using Clorox wipes to clean off prescriptions when I brought them home and cans and bottles of groceries. And putting Amazon boxes in the garage for 3 days before opening. Not everyone was in the good physical shape you are. You can hike up mountains. I could barely walk to the corner before Covid and it only got worse. And once I started physical therapy because of calf, thigh and hip problems I was told not to walk more than 5 minutes and then go up a minute a day until it caused pain. I think of Covid as many phases of learning what was okay to do.
