Slept 5.7hrs in 2 shifts. mask leak
BM no

✳Day 15 completed of Optifast. Still no hunger. 1 more week to go. A little nervous about this major surgery decision. But I am going ahead with it. My mind is made up. I need this.

✳I will have lost 100 lbs by Aug 16. I have also spent the last 15 months focused on engraining lifelong healthy habits, and those will stay with me, with or without surgery. I absolutely know that I would loose the last 100 lbs to reach my goal weight without the surgery.

⭐So why have the bariatric surgery❓

✳It has not been easy to loose the first 100 lbs, and it will not be any easier, after the surgery, to loose the last 100 lbs, and keep it off. (despite what some ill-informed FS Members have spouted off in recent weeks)

✳Life did not throw me any major curveballs this past 15 months. I was able to keep my focus on weight loss. I also had constant help, monitoring, and tweaking of my WOE, from Doctors & nutritionists & blood work every 3 months.

✳Life for me this past year has also been socially lacking - big time! I have avoided travel & avoided socializing and therefore avoided temptations. (COVID pandemic helped me be less conspicuous in my isolation). My only JOYS, were when I was able to do something I had not been able to do at 346 lbs, and also the fact that I am no longer in constant chronic pain.

✳But life shit happens, and that is when things go off the rails for me, food-wise. I need all the tools I can get to keep this weight off, for good, without Doctors and nutritionists looking over my shoulder, and despite the stressors in my future.

✳My life history tells me that the weight will sneak back on as soon as I do not have food at the forefront of my mind during ALL my waking hours. I want to eat to live now, not live to EAT!

✳The surgery will reduce the hormones that trigger hunger in my brain, and the reduced stomach size will tell my brain I am full much faster. I know I need this to stay as healthy as I can, through all life's ups and downs, and at the same time begin to enjoy a social life again.

✳Surgery is just another tool in my toolbox to avoid becoming obese ever again, no different than, the gym, weight lifting, supplements, protein powders, growth hormones, artificial sweeteners, diet food delivery services, $$$ weight-loss meetings with weigh-ins, RX, multi-Billion dollar Diet Food industry, etc. But all these aids, if abused, or used in excess, will do way more harm than good.

✳I do not plan to abuse this surgery. I will eat healthy, and will not look malnourished. I plan to loose the weight as slowly as before, or slower, so my brain has some time to adjust to this new body. I am in no rush. And it will be hard!
