Fritzy 22's Journal, 16 Jun 22

Had my doctor appointment yesterday. He told me my lab results were just fine. I got the results today from the lab. Total cholesterol 179, HDL 58, Triglycerides 115. LDL should be under 100 and was 100 exactly so I can work on that. Glucose 90. I really don't know what all the other tests were but they are all within normal range except one that I will ask the doctor about on my next visit. I whined to him about my back pain and leg and hip pain and going to physical therapy. He said the leg muscles were not as tight as last time but I have bursitis. He knew exactly where to push on my thighs to cause pain ("does that hurt?" and me screaming "YES!") He suggested a steroid injection and did that in the right leg which has been bothering since late last year. He said if that helps that he can do the left thigh next time. It is already helping. Also got a prescription for a muscle relaxer for my back that he said to take as needed. It seems to help as well. And I will continue to go to physical therapy for the next 4-6 sessions since it does seem to be helping even though I really don't like going.

Since I was "in town" yesterday I was so tempted to go to Jimboys - our local fast food taco place (much better than Taco Bell) but since I am trying to do a low fat diet for at least a week I didn't want to fail on day 3. So no Jimboys. But I go back to the doctor in a month so I may get tacos after that appointment.

I will go back to my normal WOE next week which isn't low fat because I usually have nuts and avocado which brings the fat total up - but for my cholesterol levels they are good to eat. Hope to make a stir fry today with chicken breast and brussels sprouts! I recently bought a spritzer bottle for olive oil so hopefully I will just use a little.

This is all such great news! Your lipid panel came out great -- I'm so happy for you!!! Eating healthy food is certainly helping your heart 💓. As for your leg, I'm glad your doctor was able to ease the pain and that you received a diagnosis so that you've got something concrete to tackle. I hope you feel good enough to extend your walks now (Bobby will love this!) 🤗🐶🧡

thanks Bananas - my cholesterol tests have always been okay. Once in awhile one number is a little off and I just watch my diet until the next test - usually giving up red meat, eggs and shrimp for a few months. I don't eat much of it for the most part, but like it. I do have a family history of high cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart issues. I've so far (crossing my fingers) been okay with all of that. My dad had a triple bypass when he was in his mid 60's (I'm 67) and my mom died after a massive stroke at 61. All my siblings have some kind of heart problems and 1 or 2 sisters have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I took Bobby for a 13 minute walk this morning and will do 14 minutes tomorrow. He loved it! I loosed the leash so he could walk further to smell everything. We saw 5 baby wild turkeys with 3 hens and 3 does on the walk. He gets more excited about squirrels and cats. I am lucky with my doctor - he coaches me on the best way to eat based on my health issues. He said low fat is best as long as I'm not increasing my intake of processed foods. I am trying to eat more plants. I bought both red and green grapes yesterday and am going to freeze the red ones.

Congrats on the great bloodwork 👍 So glad to hear you have such a good doctor and a good relationship with him. Baby wild turkeys! I've never seen those! Were they cute?

Writingwyo - I have wild turkeys on my property every day because I put out bird food. They come running when they hear my screen door opening although it is not really my intent to feed them. The babies are cute but there are few this year. In previous years there have been around 30. 2 or 3 hens usually stick together with the babies. I don't eat turkey any more because of the wildlife in my yard. A couple years ago there was a juvenile turkey that could move and was on my property. I was able to pick him up and brought him to the guest bathroom (covered the floor with rugs and towels). He was full of stickers and I was able to get most of them out. A lady who runs a song bird rescue lives near me and she came over and gave him pain medicine. There was only one rescue group that took turkeys. After driving him an hour each way I just can't eat turkey any more!
