*sighs* post carb bender
So after 4 years of successfully and unsuccessfully using Keto as a means to losing weight, I am switching back to standard calorie control.
I really like Keto. It is really effective and an almost enjoyable diet for me. But I’m not in a position to be limiting food groups AND because I have such a volatile relationship with food, my binge eating goes through the roof as soon as I get off keto. So, we’ll see how this goes. I wish I could just drop 25 pounds quickly so I could exercise more easily but it is what it is. Happy Monday everyone.

Dawnie, you can do this! I know it takes more than simply not overeating, but take it one step, one strategy at a time and see what could work for you right now. Sometimes you have to switch up your strategy and try something new to stay one step ahead of our bodies wanting to hang on to all it possesses, especially that extra unnecessary weight. Go get it done! 👍💪💕

There are soooo many diets out there to choose from. Has your doctor made any suggestions? Some conditions, like kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure have food restrictions that make Keto an impractical choice. If you're looking for a lifestyle change (to avoid the rebound weight gain), the Mediterranean Diet is fairly well rounded and often recommended. But definitely experiment to find what works for you on all fronts.

If you lived closer I’d say come on over and train with me. My partner has dropped out and I’m struggling to keep it going. Good luck Dawnie! You’ve done it before; I know you will again!

Dawnie, you are so strong. You can succeed, girl! Flexibility in woe seems to be the most successful long-term plan. Wishing you the best!

DAWNIE!!!! Welcome back to the Dark Side! Just do what you need to do, but remember your happiest time when you'd workout and then stare at the Little Caesar's 😜. Don't rush it - just go easy so you don't burn out. I used to live keto too, but lifting requires carbs AND allows you to incorporate them. Are you thinking of jumping back into the "shark tank" at the gym again?

Selling point: unlike cardio, there's no weight requirement for lifting... You don't need to drop a buttload of fat so you don't get winded or damage your joints. Remember how good deadlifts feel?

I am also ex-keto, now CICO. I love the freedom I have now. I realized that I'm not going to do anything to lose weight that I wouldn't be willing to continue forever, so keto is out. I am amazed how quickly the weight is coming off (17 lbs in 3 weeks, limited to 1700 cal/day), considering I'm not keto. Being muscular and active helps so much! Keto is not the only way.

I pretty much follow CICO but 1-2 xs a week I carb cycle. It does wonders for me. Have you ever thought about it? It is restrictive but since you only do it 1-2 xs a week it's doable. I really like it!

Good to see you. I use CICO, and also work with a lower carb model bit not anywhere near as strict as keto.

Gotta go with what's sustainable and reduces those binges, good luck!

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and suggestions and reminders that I got this! I’m aimingp for 100 grams of protein everyday and I’m trying to keeps my carbs a bit lower to avoid allowing myself too much wiggle room with treats. I am going to the gym again. Deadlifts and squats have been really tough on my knees but I’m working on it. Little at a time I’ll get back to 150 lbs deadlifts and squats :D
