Have shredded Brussel Sprouts in the dehydrator. Yes, I am a prepper, but only for the short-term things. I don't have room for long-term problems, neither a pantry nor a basement. It is hot in the summer here and my garage faces South-West so is the hottest place so not appropriate for storage. If any area had long-term problems hordes would come after what we have and I couldn't protect anything I had. My biggest problem would be water. Since I don't have much of that it really wouldn't matter what food I have. So then these things I have are mostly for the sake of inflation or convenience. My husband does not understand, but I think I was just born of pioneer stock and prepared for a bad crop or an Indian attack. By the way, it may be hard to believe but is true that my own grandmother (my mother's mother) came West (mid-west) in a covered wagon as a child. The family built and lived in a sod hut. It's hard to understand how they fed their children starting a farm on the prairie. She married at 15 and had 9 children. Times were hard, but she lived to 96 and was a "salt of the earth" type person.

Imagine what you grandmother would think of our modern America?

I think I have those prepper tendencies myself. I've told my husband that our next house needs to have a big kitchen so I can have more kitchen toys. A dehydrator is definitely on the wish list

I’m a mini prepped as well. I store 80 gallons of water. Some in short term storage (3 mo, 6 months) and the rest in long term (5 years). Her in SoCal we have been told to be prepared to take care of our own needs for at least 3 weeks—- including water. The big one quake will come some day.
