Fritzy 22's Journal, 14 Nov 21

The weight is still going nowhere - over a week now. I get my new scale yesterday. It's the same brand as my old scale - Healthometer. I like the old scale, it always shows the same weight as my doctor's scale. When I got the new scale I put it next to the old scale on the bathroom floor. Both scales gave me the exact same weight, but since then they only match sometimes. This morning I am posting the weight from the old scale. The new scale shows a weight lower by .8 pounds. The new scale also keeps track of the weight for 2 people and will show how much you have lost or gained since the last time you weighed. Had to read the directions to figure it all out. I am putting the new scale in the guest bathroom and I may weigh myself once a week on that scale for now, while still checking the old scale daily. Complicated right? And most of you are saying "who cares?" After my next doctor appointment I'll know which scale is the most accurate or at least matches his scale the closest.

I made a chuck roast 3 or 4 days ago and maybe eating that for 3 days in a row has kept me from losing. I really watched the portions but chuck roast is a pretty fatty cut of beef and high in calories.

We ate late last night and it was salty. I weighed and I recorded, but yikes! One thing about almost all scales, including the doctor's office, they need to be calibrated if they are heavily used - which most doctor's scales are. see what I did there? although I'll never measure up to the gold standard set by Shrewdness.

Don't know what the gold standard of Shrewdness is. I don't know how to calibrate a scale. These digital scales don't have any buttons to press, just batteries to change. The directions on the new scale did indicate that when it shows 3 zeros is has calibrated. Not sure what it all means but I really wish both scales showed the same weight, and difference of .8 pounds is significant I think.

Fritzy I have the same Healthometer scale. I have had it for years!!! I calibrate it by tapping one foot with a little pressure on it three times. The zeros flash a couple times, then it displays the zeros for a few more second and then it clears. Just keep working your plan !!

sorry, Fritzy, I meant how she always seems to slip in a pun or two. guess I wasn't as clever as I was hoping to be. if I explain it, it will get even less funny so I'll just stop.

ps...The model I have is the one that tracks two peoples weights and gives change in weight from last weigh in. I would think your old scale since it is the same brand may calibrate the same way.

The good news is that as long as your chart continues with trend towards your goal, it's still classified as a win in the books! Use a known/marked weight object(s). If each scale is consistent with itself time after time, you know it's accurate. Good job! ⚖️📉😊

Crazycat - The old scale is clear glass and I just tap on the glass until 0.0 shows, then I step on it. The new scale doesn't do anything until I stand on it and it shows a weight. After I step off is shows 3 zeros, then shows 2 for a sec and then 1 for a sec. I thought it was just timing down or something until I read the instructions. If I wait until the 1 shows and then tap the bottom right corner of the scale it shows the amount of weight lost or gained. Kind of like that. The new scale is not clear glass, it is a sold black color. I bought a cheaper model on Amazon. I'm not spending alot of money to weigh myself. Katsolo - I think I don't read enough journal entries. I don't get most puns. I had to read your comments again - was it "heavily used"? If so, that is funny. But it originally went right over my head as do most clever remarks.

Thanks LooseButtons! When I am really, really focusing on loosing weight the scale becomes too important. For years my scale was really dependable. Maybe it still is, but since changing the batteries I'm not so sure. But as long as I know I am eating less calories than usual and my clothes get more comfortable and then loose, it doesn't matter too much what the scale says. I start out with tight clothes because I wait to get serious and finally start dieting seriously when I would have to buy bigger sizes. So right now I wear sweat pants or sleep pants. Luckily I'm retired and the weather is getting colder. Sweat pants in August gets me odd looks.

I just ordered a new scale too. My old one was a cheapie from Big Lots that changed weight just stepping off and on. I fight until I am under my lowest documented weight then I post my new lower weight. 🙂

Kdrama - I don't like posting my weight every day but thought I'd try it. I tend to avoid it altogether when I am not following my weight loss plan and then I'll gain but don't want to see it. I'll figure it out in a week or so.
