59Carol's Journal, 19 Dec 20

Another pound down. This one was a nail biter - I ranged from highest to lowest weight this week was 0.8 pounds. Talk about increments. Good news is that I am down a full pound and only 0.2 more than my lowest weight this week.

I am looking forward to losing a half pound and finally get into the next 'decade' of numbers! I am closing in on my initial goal - just 10.2 pounds away - and I will have lost 100 pounds. When I arrive at my goal I will be taking stock of where I am at and then make small 5 pound goals as I see what each weight feels and looks like. I have not been below 170 pounds in about 15 years and that time was short lived. Before that it had been 20 years since I had maintained a weight below 170. That means that I am really not sure what weight actually makes sense on my nearly 62 year old body! As a teenager I maintained around 135 pounds and was horrified if I reached 140. I am not a teenager anymore so we will see what it looks like as I inch my way downwards. For now, the focus is on this 10.2 pounds!

My renovations continue on. The basement shower will be installed by the end of the day- the base and surround are already in place. Half the basement is tiled and mostly grouted. That will likely be done today as well depending on how long the one fellow plans to work today. I have been tasked with re-arranging the heap of stuff that was piled in one room to clear out the rest of the basement. Now they need access to part of the room with the pile. Maybe tomorrow I will be sorting and moving stuff. Unfortunately the places I am moving it to will not be the final resting place for the stuff so it will have to be shifted at least one more time. There is just no way around it. Some of the ceiling tile is up with pod lighting and that is looking good. Definitely not going to be done by Christmas but I hope it will be done by the end of January!

Have been spending the last couple of days tutoring my high school aged granddaughter. It is the goal to get her totally caught up before Christmas. Online schooling can be easy to get behind in. I may need to do something similar with my grandson who is in junior high school. We will see where he is at.

Merry Christmas everyone! Keep safe.

WOW, sounds like you are a busy lady! Congratulations on the weight loss, and best wishes for shedding that last 10.2 pounds! The good thing about having to move the basement stuff is that it will give you a little extra exercise! Keep up the great work, Carol!

Well done on the weight loss Carol! I am almost at the hundred-pound-loss point also, and, like you, I'm not sure exactly where I want to go after that. Looks like 2021 could be an exciting and challenging year! Your work on your basement sounds fantastic, I can't wait to see the results. Have a great day! 🏡🎄

Thank you for all of your well wishes and support. I will admit that the tutoring is a joy. My granddaughter is an eager and willing pupil. She has been on the honour roll all of her school career so she has high standards. We are mostly dealing with not angsting too long over getting it perfect but rather get it done well and passed in!

Shirfleur - it is funny to me when people are so able to know what weight is a good one for them. It has been a very long time since I have spent any time under 150 that I have no idea. I was slim and trim until my first pregnancy at age 20. I never saw a weight below 160 from that day. Over the years following, I added many pounds onto the initial 70 pound weight gain. Looking back, there was so much I didn't know that would have helped me to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 135. However, I do own the choices I made no matter how much I might wish I could have known then what I know now! Good luck in finding your 'happy' weight!

Thank you Melissa. As it turned out our government said that two singletons can meet at one family home for one day over Christmas. That suits our family perfectly. I am picking up my father-in-law this morning and heading to my daughter's house. So grandkids and family for me. We plan to have a Euchre tournament for this afternoon and then after supper I will take my father in law home and head for my place. This new ruling was my best Christmas gift!!
