I'll let others comment on eating strategies. I'll share something about winter, since you mentioned that, which encouraged a few of us last year. I used to dread walks in the cold. Then someone pointed out that just a few minutes of walking flipped on an inner heater that felt pretty damn good. Just needed to walk a bit to get it I started. So now I look forward to winter walks and that delightful switch-flip. I hope that is of some use.

Thank you! You've motivated me to give it a try at least. Now I'll have to see if my dog is brave enough to come with me :D

Try tracking everything you eat, if you don’t already. Has your output slowed?

It was one pound. Relax and don't panic. I gained two back - no idea how or why. I lost it and a little more the following week.
Every long trip has a surprise in the road that causes a detour. Put yourself back on the road and turn on your seat warmer for winter. Warm buns are amazing!

Damned pumpkin spice! jk I'm in the same boat though. I just can't get over the hump. Try not to be discouraged. Stick it out. We'll get there.

I would look at food u eat and output.(exercise) Are you eating alot of processed foods? They can make you bloated and puffy.
Stick to it and the pounds will come off.

Thank you everyone! Sadly, it wasn't just one pound (I wish!) It's been 5-6lbs and yeah I guess my output might be a little slower but I don't think its enough to be causing such a weight gain. I will look into that though! I think I eat a mixed of processed and unprocessed foods throughout the day. It's so hard not to :( I am tracking what I eat and struggling to get my protein up. UGH!! I appreciate all of the advice!

May I recommend a body composition scale? You may simply be building muscle while shrinking fat cells. Also tracking your inches can ease doubts too. This is one I've used for years. 👇

Maybe you gained son muscle since you said you were working out?! Don't be so frustrated, during winter ❄️ months cold weather is great to keep yourself indoors, in the gym 👍. During summer is so many distractions! Keep up with your progress and don't eat before bed 🤪

Forget what you did before and don't try to figure it out. Continue reducing calories while raising activity until you lose weight.

Hey, love, don’t get discouraged! If you’re gaining, you’re most likely eating more than you’re working off. Do you work out currently? Either scale back on the cals a tiny bit or work out harder and be patient with yourself! 💖

rivy311, 🤗 this is hard... It is a long, often boring, draining journey to lose weight, and to have it inexplicably returning is rough. I'm sorry! All I know is that bodies function mostly how they should on CICO. I'm up a couple pounds from where I want to be at the moment, and it is super disappointing. I have to evaluate why, and I know I'm living in a lot of stress, I've hurt my knee so I can't work our very hard, I simply want to eat comfort food, I am freaking mad winter is coming and I had so little that turned out as I hoped for me or my family this year. Blah! Stuff is tough! But, I know what works and do it I must! For me, I often find not eating after about 3pm helps. I keep my whole foods and fiber high on my list of priorities. I work hard to get close to 100 grams of protein. I try to get a lot of movement in each day. I lift heavy things. This is alllll stuff you know. Hang in there! One day at a time, girl! ❤️

How did you figure your calories needed? I've found many calculators are too high for me. Are you eating whole foods or lots of processed foods? Our bodies suck sometimes and like to throw us curve balls and we need to adjust.

Two bits:
- as my weight gets get lower, I definitely need to recalculate my calorie needs, every 3-5lbs for me... If you're working on tight margins, it might be enough to make a real difference
- make sure you're averaging over a week or so - I know it's a blast to see the scale go down from last time but it's the overall that's most relevant!
Oh, and: everyone gets setbacks! Don't get yourself worried!

Honestly it could be a simple matter of counting. Packages of food and serving sizes don’t go hand-in-hand far too often on accurate calories. Try switching to grams instead. And I have noted a lot of mistakes when people add food on here so when you program it in, it isn’t accurate. If you are going from the FS list of foods, that is. As for cold weather working out.. I prefer it. You may find after a few days you’re really enjoying it. Also check online calculator for your RDI based on height and weight and activity level. 😊

I made pomegranate/blueberry jelly this week. It turned out so good. Gave it all away so now will have to make more.

Too many carbs and sugar little one and if your going to do the CICO combine with the 5 small meals a day method. Your just eating the wrong things loose the bread. Starving stores everything. Believe it or not you're not eating enough. If you do cico with 5 small meals and if your active you can easily eat 2000 a day and drop weekly.

I can't lose weight unless I only consume 1200 calories or less a day. So I guess it depends on what your current intake is. Hidden calories always lurk in restaurant food and alcohol, plus snacking is deadly, CICO or not. Sometimes you just have to play around with the different foods. My secret: always Overestimate the number of calories in a meal by 100.
