Egull1's Journal, 20 Sep 20

Well, it looks like a new low even after an increase of 2%. So, following in true reverse diet fashion - we increase by another 2%/day, which will will take us up to an average of 1781 cals/day. That's almost 1800 cals/day. I'm actually not surprised to see the drop. This can happen with reverse dieting because 2 factors are at play. My body is burning more energy to burn more food, and the other is that I may very well still be in a deficit despite the increase. So, we keep plugging along until we find that sweet spot.

The weekly calorie allotment looks something like this:

On Average 1782 cals/day (Reverse diet increase by 2%). This accounts for maintenance cals and activity level for age 47.

Monday - 1791
Tuesday - 1811
Wednesday - 2068
Thursday - 1791
Friday - 1614
Saturday - 1614
Sunday - 1791

Right now, these poor legs are recovering from a hard core workout where I might have very possibly over did it. The tough thing about the damage done to this spinal cord from the MS is that my legs tend to go very numb when I'm overheated or workout. It mutes the pain of muscle fatigue or soreness, which on the one hand is awesome because I can go longer than the average joe without incurring a lot of pain.

On the other hand, think about what that means? If I'm not feeling it DURING the workout, I don't know when to stop. And, I most assuredly feel it later. And, that is what happened this time. I haven't had this kind of inflammation from a workout in a LONG TIME. My right leg was so stiff and sore by Saturday, I couldn't even use the roller on my right quad because it was so tender.

I rolled around it and rolled everywhere else for that matter. I also did my yoga routine, which helps to workout the lactic acid. But, last night was a humdinger of a night to get through. The muscles were twitching jumping and my legs were trying to freeze up, even after I had taken 3 muscle relaxers.

On that note, I know it's too late for flex Friday so I thought a pic of me posing with the 30 lb kettlebell might be fun. LOL. I'm only starting out with 3X6 kettlebell swings with this weight. It's a recent increase in weight. So, me and this body still have to feel it out for a bit.

But, I figure if I can't do rows with it yet - I can at least manhandle it for a bit. Beside, the color goes well with the coming fall season, LOL! Have a blessed and beautiful week everyone - I will catch you next weekend to see where we land.

This quote keeps running through my head lately. "If you feel like you're falling short - keep going until you get it right, and then keep going until you can't get it wrong." -Persist

Persistence is the key. I suffer from nerve damage due to multiple accidents parachuting and a knife happy surgeon (although you never realize that until it is too late) When you are young, you feel invincible and you think you ca overcome anything - then we get older and we realize, our bodies wear out - - but I had/still sometimes do the same thing because I am on pain suppression medication. The pain does catch up but too late after you already overdo it. What I do is keep a workout diary. I mark reps and types of exercise, duration, and resistance. It has helped. And yes, the picture looks amazing - suggestion - use it for your profile picture, you look great.

Thank you newname, you are pretty dang spectacular as well. And, doing a wonderful job of hitting your fitness goals in addition to working to maintain. Neither one is easy to be sure. Sky - I keep a running list of workouts, reps, and sets. I email them to myself each week so I know what is coming next. And, you are correct it really does help to keep track of progression. What can undo me sometimes is the crossfit metcon. Those are tricky routines as they seem so easy, but tend too pack a punch later on. This last one in addition to the lunges pushed the glutes and quads over the edge, but that is not the norm for sure. I try to be very diligent about being incremental with increases in weights, sets, and reps. And, I like your suggestion about changing the profile pic. I had just been thinking the same thing earlier today. I'll take it as a sign from the universe it's time to do it. Thank you. Erq-1! I hope you're continuing to heal from your surgery. You are no less an inspiration, sweetheart! Thank you wifey - you make me blush :-) And, DP - I did actually take a flex friday pic of the biceps. I hadn't done one in so long. I'm really quite smitten with them. I promise to post next week! And, thank you Tom - I'm about to head to bed and rest up right after I post this...this girl hit a new PB today - 60 push-ups with 11 lbs of weight in a back pack strapped to my back. And, no splitting sets. I was so excited, I almost cried. That being stated, it's definitely time for a rest and recoup day. You have a good week too, John. And, thank you Carol - it was truly fun taking this shot.

And, thank you so much JC! Managing MS definitely feels like a full time job sometimes. But, I am so down on my knees thankful that it is manageable and I take heart even when things get tough that I am actually capable of doing more now physically than I was 99 lbs ago and before my legs went numb. It definitely helps get me through (Big Hugs)

Geez I'm only using 7lbs weights to do sets. I hope to get to your level of fitness. Have a great recovery!

Thank you, Cailinlass - I'm speechless but needless to say, that warmed my heart :-) And, thanks Jheeden - I'm going to enjoy that comment since I'm turning 47 next month, LOL! And, curvacious - I started out in 2017 with 3 and 4 lb weights. Just keep at it, have patience, take your time and appreciate what your body is giving you right now - you will get there, too!

So you’re a Libra, too? Awesomeness. Ignore the number because it’s just a number. Like the scale. And you could pass for 27! Unfortunately, I could NOT. 😂🤣😂 But I will also be 53 in 20 more days. Still, in better shape now than at 33!

Hey Jheeden - I'm a late October baby, so make that a Scorpio. But, I'll take looking 27 at 47 any day of the week! lol. And, yes I am infinitely in better shape than I was at 27. I suppose if I had known better it might have been different, but it counts now more than ever so if I going to be fit - I'm glad it happened now :-)
