So in the past 7 days I’ve eaten a daily average of 1888 cal and burned close to 3k daily (or over). My average before was 2200 cals and about 5 miles a week worth of steps extra. I gained .6 pounds 😞☹️ I’ve been really sore all weak so I’ve been walking less. Is that really enough to drop my deficit that much!??

Pretty sure it is water weight. If your muscles are sore, they are holding a lot of water, no?

Besides checking your weight, do you measure your body? If you gain muscle, you could weight more. https://www.heybloom.com/2017/08/10/body-measurements/

Yeah water weight is likely it. Are you throwing in a rest day here or there?

Bodies are not machines, we all have plateaus, ups, and downs in weight loss.

The simple answer is yes. Let’s assume your walk takes 1 hour and 1/2 at 600 calories. If you are taking in 2200 - 600 = 1600 intake. You take away the walk and consume 1800 calories you are consuming more calories in a day this week than last week because of the lack of exercise. New calories plus walk will give you the best results 1800 - 600 = 1200 intake.

Thanks guys. I’ve been eating a lot (A LOT) of carbs and weightlifting for a while now so I wouldn’t think that I’d have additional water weight gain. Usually when I do have a lot of water weight I can feel it in my ankles and calves. They seem to be normal. The only difference is I am eating less and walking less. Even though I’m walking less I’m still burning at least 2800 cals. According to fs which is not accurate for me. I have seen ppl on here use those numbers successfully. I always figure it’s probably about 500 over what my body will actually burn but anyway my legs are no longer sore so I will be back to my normal back and forth at work 😁

A mile = roughly 100 calories = 1 tablespoon of butter It's more effective short term to reduce the food intake.

This is NOT an argument against exercise!

Since you are lifting weights, your muscles may be retaining fluids in the repair process. That could be the case for you, maybe not. I am far from an expert on such matters. But you are doing the right things, and the transformations we all seek take time, effort, and consistency! 🙂

Sometimes our bodies are just stubborn! You are gaining muscle with all the working out so don't forget to factor that in - great job losing so much this week!!

Yes, look at your numbers. Then look at your numbers when you were losing. I know you can see it clearly. Good luck!

Water retention to help repair inflamed muscles and/or muscle gain.

Also, 7 days is nothing in the grand scheme. A pound of fat lost can be easily masked by water. We are 60% water. Just stick with it and you'll have a woosh.

6 pounds of fat would mean that you consumed an extra 21,000 calories in the week. That would be an extra 3,000 calories a day. Which of course you didn't. It's water and muscle.

Thanks guys I know it's dumb to stress about not losing when I haven't really been trying for very long but ughh I've already been through this! The struggle to lose weight at a decent rate (one where effort and results are somewhere in the same ballpark) is a little nerve wracking. But I'm no longer obese and if I Really want to lose weight I KNow I can and I know the most effective way for me to do it. I'll stop stressing now 😅 I had ribs for dinner tonight so I wont be surprised by the scale tomorrow

@CrashtestDawnie - Also, at a certain point your 'personality' will 'kick in' and provide you the 'motivation' to 'achieve your goals' 👍🏾😁

Lol that is true Adef and coming up soon 😉 If it weren’t for all this damn belly I’d be happy with where I’m at 😒

If you are lifting weights I would focus less on the scale and start doing pics/measurements/how your clothes fit - the changes are subtle so you need to be able to look back over time to see the difference. Salt also causes water retention - even if I have olives or something I can have several lb difference. If you are on IG or FB you can follow Endurance on 8th - Kevin and Wendy always has good tips and info about stuff like this.
