All calories are not created equal! It was my daughter's 39th b-day celebration last night. I did most of the cooking so I can only blame myself for decadent scalloped potatoes that my granddaughter loves and the fancy 3 layer cake for my daughter. They were both good however the price to pay was on the scale this morning. 1.5 pounds up. The overall calories was in range as was the fat, protein, and carbs. Just what it was that I ate was not super nutrition friendly. I will hope that the weight will come off easily if I return to good habits.

This afternoon my husband and I head to the city 2.5 hours away. My husband has an early morning chemo appointment and he doesn't want to face the chemo after getting up very early, driving and then 4 hours of chemo. He is feeling rotten enough that he asked me to book a room for Monday night as well so we won't head home until Tuesday.

So there will be some emotional stress going on coupled with not just eating out but figuring out foods to bring to the hotel room as he will not want to go to a restaurant. And my husband craves high sugar high fat pastries during treatments so there will be that in the hotel room.

Finally I don't travel with a scale so no weigh in Mon or Tues to keep things in check. May Wed be a decent weigh in!

I am guessing that gain is probably just sodium from the yummy food. Happy birthday to your daughter. Very sweet that she can have her faves and homemade birthday cake at her mom's! Good luck with the drive and chemo. Sending good thoughts your way.

Thank you for your supportive words! I will just have to get back to what I have been doing as I was starting to get results. I have just finished my morning exercises and am planning how to do them at the hotel in the next two days-- there is a fitness room and a 'family' room that is often empty. I can take my computer and DVD down there and do them and not keep my husband up! Now to think about a food plan that will work- there is a frig in the hotel so there are a number of possibilities! If I don't think ahead I just eat what comes to hand because I am hungry.

Best of luck with your planning - that is the key to success. Hope your husband does well.

I am a planner and when I do that piece well then things go right. So far I have made my morning oatmeal and put it into portioned glass containers ready for the microwave. I am packing my homemade Mango yogurt. I have made up two bowls of salad so I will get some veggies into me for sure. I have two cans of flavored tuna to go with them so no dressing is necessary. I am bringing my homemade rhubarb kombucha as well as mine is better tasting than store bought! I think that will arm me just fine to deal with some food from the local grocery store to add to what I am bringing! Thank you for your kind thoughts for my husband. It is a trying time for him and me as well.
