This is the greatest weight gain I've had in over four years, and likely the biggest in less than a week. Due to my recent injury I've been virtually immobile except shuffling about. It seems mathematically impossible to gain nearly 5.5 lbs in less than a week. I was so certain that I had finally reached my allusive goal of achieving 10% bod fat. I was planning on posting new pictures of the results today. Oh well years of work down the tubes. Really down.
73.9 kg Lost so far: 0 kg.    Still to go: 3.6 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
Gaining 2.5 kg a Week

I certainly hope so, DO N OK, not so sure that it's not permanent damage.

Don't worry about it. Priority one is to heal up. Frustrating, but there it is. Don't give up!

I broke my femur in January. Lost weight in the hospital. As I recovered, so did my appetite. I am back to tracking starting today and am dedicated to resuming my regimen. Heal fast.

You've been taking pain killers, your body is in full repair mode. It means that you may gain weight, lose weight, feel swollen/bloated/inflammed or empty drained and exhausted. Don't worry about the scale right now! Focus on getting better, take the time you need to do a complete rehab and you'll see that your body will respond well. Take care

Could some of it be water you body is retaining to help repair itself? I caused havoc in my right quad (got a little over zealous on the elliptical) and gained 7# overnight. It came off once my leg healed, but i was on ice for a couple of weeks.

It's ok. Really. You will make your goal but as you know sometimes God's schedule is not the same as our own, right? Concentrate on getting better first. You are so dedicated that I'm sure you will be back on track as soon as you are able. Don't give up!

I agree with Jengetfit123 in that your body is doing what it can to heal and if you are immobile, you may be filling up with fluid more than usual. Gravity does actually make a difference. You are probably feeling down due to the hormonal response to pain, even though you may be taking pain killers. Your brain has a lot going on to heal you so producing the happy hormone dopamine just isn't it's highest priority. Your injury really needs you to keep eating well and drinking water and relaxing as much as possible. Hang in there!

Any new med? They can cause fluid retention along with a plethora of other reasons The body is finicky and will fluctuate several times a day. Stay strong and on plan dont let this throw you! Good luck!

Man, you're in that good of shape and you really believe one week can set you back that much? It's guaranteed 80% water weight. I fluctuate that much in a couple of days, all of the time...

Dont let it get you down!! We all struggle here and there, you are in amazing shape and should be proud of who you are, not what you weigh!! Let yourself heal and you will see that you will be right where you want to be in no time!!

Thanks jengetfit, never considered the pain meds and the recovery mode my bod is in might be the culprit of water retention.

Diablow360x, I only weight myself once a week the same time so that I can evaluate my true weight best I can. I eat pretty clean so that I'm not guessing at water retention due to unhealthy eating habits. Nevertheless, since my injury we've had a few homemade meals prepared by dear friends. Ordinarily I wouldn't have eaten them, but I can't dismiss the well intentions of others simply because I wish to eat differently. All this mus play in the mix, just super surprised.

Ya, 5lbs in a week is for sure water weight. I’ve gained 5lbs overnight just FROM water weight. Don’t worry about it. You would literally have not workout and binge tons of calories every day for weeks on end to cause any type of “damage” or gain any significant amount of body fat to be over 10%. Plus even if you did do that, it would only take about another month maybe even less to lose it and get back to 10%. So, the reality is, you gained mostly water weight, and your progress is still fine. No worries 👍🏻

Wannabehealthier, I am still drinking smoothies, but I only add about 7 grams of protein to them. As of today I am cutting back cals about 25% because my expendature has been reduced from approx 2900 to 1800. Although this doesn't reflect the norm at my weight my resting HR is about 47.

Guys, I am more encouraged than I awoke, and just pray there isn't any permanent back damage. I really suspect if my core wasn't so strong that the severity of the impact would have broken my back. I thrive on personal best. I guess I'll start by tying my shoes. Thanks one and all. You've been both helpful and encouraging.

Healing will take time - it took a couple of months post hospital for me for things to settle down physically. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for the best possible outcome.
