Two of my friends have started getting serious about weight loss and exercise. I think both activities have to be coordinated and worked together.
Wearing my fitbit and checking past successes, I have to admit I am not tight enough with my diet to be losing 1 pound a week without doing the 10,000 steps a day like I did last time I was consistently losing. So, buckling down and doing what works, and adjusting for those days where I don't meet the 10k. Another weekend coming up - time to clear more junk out of the fridge.
One friend joined weight watchers on line - suddenly it becomes clear how unhealthy her diet is! Lots of good tricks for working that system - the zero point foods was the one thing she didn't quite understand. The new system is a little loose if you ask me, but I am not using that system so I just give her what advice I have on that. When I started here on FS I was using the point system, and was going to WW meetings. FS used to have a way to log the points directly - I lost 7 pounds and then stalled and quit WW.
Part of my problem is that I think that I feel the same as when I weighed less - although I was practicing some dance steps I used to do and was mightily out of breath after a few minutes!
My feet have been hurting this week also, so I think I have to cut out wheat which I totally binged on this week, and get some inserts that keep my toes from flexing. So much to do - working on my taxes too.
Anyway, I am understanding how to get into the flow of things and will be working on the plan again over the weekend.
Happy Friday all!

I agree with you about needing to both diet and exercise. At least for me - I either do both or neither.

Good job evaluating and setting next steps! I agree about both diet and exercise! When I exercise I feel better because those feel-good chemicals in the brain are released, which then begins a cycle of success. In the past, if I was having trouble getting motivated to move, I would tell myself I could quit after 10 minutes. I rarely quit. I would think, oh yeah, this feels good, and the next time it was easier to make the decision to just do it. Also, I don't think all exercise has to be at a high intensity to get results. If my goal is to burn fat, then most of my exercise should be in the fat-burning heart rate zone. I love my fitbit because I can monitor it as I go.

Always good to keep tweaking your plan 🙂

I agree, diet and exercise goes together. And it's always good to keep tweaking as you go, this way, you are less likely to hit plateaus where you feel like everything has come to a complete stop. Keep up the good work!
