D2jasper's Journal, 02 Jun 17

So last night was a evening out with family from out of town. We went out for a meal at a Mexican restaurant. I know not the best choice, so I got a burrito. Dang largest thing I've seen in a long time, I could only get down half. ( and to think I used to polish this little bugger off). So I brought home the leftovers thinking lunch for today, what the heck was I thinking. After my morning workout I thought about it for maybe 10 seconds, then pitched it in the trash. Funny how as you work so hard to get rid of the weight and change your eating habits how much your taste changes. Now I crave Greek nonfat yogurt, never cared for it before, but that damn little voice in my head keeps me in check most of the time. He said since I carried the crappy leftovers home I should be able to count that as exercise, anyone know how to calculate that ? Happy Friday y'all......

Great job pitching the leftovers and using portion control at the dinner!

Great idea I've learned that its OK to reject unhealthy hi cal fatty foods, I went thru the freezer and threw out remnants of my previously hi fat unhealthy diet. I used to say to myself you can't waste food even if it is fattening, hi cal, or unhealthy but I'm now guilt free I just toss it!

Most people don't ask to take home leftovers in the UK, unless it's something like pizza - then they might, but it's not considered the done thing over here. Which can be good or bad. We either leave it or feel the need to get our money's worth and eat it all in the restaurant until we're fit to burst! You'll notice the skinny people always leave some on their plate of course 😏

LOL lets think 50 calories burned carrying it home... 100 for the heart burn another 100 to hit the trash can ... I'd say you hit 250 on that little exercise, easy! LOL 🙆🏻 Way to go!

Some people give flak for throwing food away, and will even bring up the worldwide starvation problem. 1) There's no way to give the starving child in Africa your leftover burrito, and 2) It's already wasted food. You can use your body as the trashcan, or the trashcan as the trashcan. 3) There's really no exceptions to this but one: the food is already part of your plan. If someone, say, budgets half a pack of twix into their diet, saving the second half isn't waste.

Buying stuff, bringing it home, eating a little then throwing it away. I did that last week. Ollie's had Russel Stover's sugar free marshmallow hearts. Ten cents each. Got 20. Thought, what the hell, it's sugar free. Ate 2-3 and realized sugar free or not, it's a trigger and threw them away. Thought not a lot of $, but such a waste. Note to self.... don't even think of buying it.

Isn't it great when you find yourself craving the good stuff and wondering how long it will take you to burn off what you just ate? That is major progress my friend.

I love Mexican food...when we go out, I enjoy fajitas as I can order romaine lettuce instead of tortillas...fits my LCHF WOE. I have learned...never take home doggy bags...then I don't have any remorse the next day. You did the right thing...we must always think about the consequences of our actions:)

I never take home restaurant leftovers for the very reason you just pointed out. I simply do not need the mystery calories a second day. It's wasteful, I know. But when I was in my 20's, a gentleman that I worked with told me 3 things that simply lacked class were chewing gum (makes one look like a cow chewing its cud), holding a garage sale on one's front lawn, and doggie bags (implying that one cannot really afford to eat there). I know.
