Fritzy 22's Journal, 07 Nov 23

The doctor's office finally called me this morning. The doctor recommends either a hinged knee brace or a noeprene knee sleeve. Looked them both up on Amazon and the knee sleeve looks easier to put on. Asked about the xray and was told I would need to come back in to see the doctor. I said we had already talked about the xray and could they just make the appointment but if necessary I will come back in. I can't deal with not being able to walk. She promised I'd get a call back today.

I went to the grocery store this morning and limped around for about 20 minutes - luckily it's a small store. Was not going to go another day without coffee. Still had to go to 3 corners of the store for half and half, milk, coffee, sugar, and stuff for a salad. I am not giving in to impulse purchases. The potato chips and cookie aisles had no interest to me - amazing! But I did look for hash brown patties that cook so easily in the toaster oven. Luckily, they were out of them! So I should do good on the food choices for today.

Seeing the Dr.could be good. She could asses the knee better to pick the right device and measure to be sure you have the proper fit. It can be tricky getting the right one and you don't want circulation cut off.

Thanks Redrose,I saw the doctor last Thursday. She examined the knee and suggested an X-Ray but I decided to wait, hoping the knee would get better with rest. I didn't injure the knee, I just woke up one morning and couldn't put weight on it. I've already ordered the knee sleeve and used measurements to determine the size.

I hope the knee braces helps. I have one of the neoprene ones.

Hoping you feel better soon! The brace should help you. I used both types. The hinged one can be helpful but it's restrictive and can sometimes hurt on the sides. Take care !❤️❤️

Thanks Morticia! I should get the brace tomorrow. I was on my feet too much today because now my knee even hurts, aches when I'm lying down. I need limping lessons because I think I do it wrong.

Thanks Diana. I'm still waiting to hear if the doctor will approve an X-Ray. This has been going on for over a week now. I was glad to read you are out of the hospital and at your sister's house. Hopefully you'll find it easier to relax and recover there. Although, is this the sister who eats fast food alot?

I hope you feel better soon. Despite how you are feeling you’ve managed to stay the course. Amazing

Thanks Moko! I hope to hear something today. If not, my own doctor will be back next week.

Thanks Ocean Girl. I brought home a large pizza after my doctor's appointment last Thursday and it got me through 3 days. When the doctor said to stay off my feet as much as possible I thought it wouldn't be too bad if I could have a,big bag of chips on the couch with me. But knowing I can't do that I've settled on a large glass of Crystal Lite iced tea

Fritzy, thank you for checking on me. Yes this is that sister. Pizza and brownies were last nights meal and dessert. I ate it because I’m so limited with what I can do for myself. I was so tired yesterday. Today I told my husband we would cook a pork tenderloin and probably some rice or something like that with a side of vegetables. Keep us posted on the knee. I worry about you💜🙏

Sorry to hear about your knee! My friend is going through a similar situation and is having arthroscopy to remove a bit of loose cartilage. Hope your situation is better soon! He had to get X-ray, discuss, then MRI and discuss, now he has to get a physical and EKG prior to surgery and then surgery. Lots of appointments!

Diana, pizza and brownies sounds pretty good! But even I know it's not something to do often. The meal you plan on making sounds really good and healthy. So glad you are doing good. I am going to try to stay off my feet today. I was up and about too much yesterday. Had to change out litter boxes which involved going up and down the porch stairs so I could wash the boxes out using a garden hose. I also fell on the bottom step. I have a hard time going over the landings at doorways. Just odd problems

Thanks Abba. The doctor told me we have to start with an X-Ray even though it probably won't show much except for arthritis. But they can't order additional tests until that is done. I have a feeling they may send me to physical therapy.

I know knee braces! I've been using them for 20 years. A sleeve won't do much for ya. I have a brace that's simple with hinges. It has straps that can adjust nicely to your leg. It really keeps the swelling down too. I wear it over my leggins usually. Look at this one on Amazon. It's very similar to what i have. EZ to put on and recommended by some therapists. I hope they can figure out what's wrong with it. Thanks Jen. I have heavy (fat) legs. I got the sleeve yesterday and it was the largest size they had 2X. It's snug and I'm hoping bit will stretch some. I checked out your brace on Amazon and it only goes as high as large so I doubt it will fit.
