Greetings my best Buddies:

Today I am frustrated and unsure what to next do. It seems the most recent incarnation of medicine the ENT prescribed is helpful for my sinus issue - but I am having uncomfortable side effects, too.

Budesonide is a type of steroid that I am adding to my sinus wash - I have recently had a little trouble breathing, red itchy skin, fatigue yet insomnia, weight gain, etc. And, I am only doing it one time per day and I think the doctor wanted me to do it twice per day!

It actually works well for the sinus issue - but not sure I want to continue it right now.

I am going to quit it for a few days and see if I feel a lot better without it - trying to sort out whether the side effects are worth the benefits.

maybe while you are taking a break from the medication, try adding a 100% therapeudic grade lavender oil in your rinse just a drop will do. I use Young Living. I wont lie, I'm a distributor. However one of the reason I started using their oils is my chronic sinus infections. I have not been on any prescriptions for infections since I started. I have some other tricks also to keep at bay. if you want more information email me at ylnaturaloils@gmail.com good luck either way. Julia

I hate when medicines have such big side effects - you get rid of one symptom just to replace it with others.. :( Hope you can get things sorted out!

I know you have probably already factored this in but could it be a food sensitivity? My bronchial and sinus issues went away when I dumped gluten. I'd been hospitalized for my upper respiratory issues many times and was living with a nebulizer, nasal sprays and a neti pot. I haven't had to deal with it in over 4 years. I hope you find your answers soon and I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

I'm sorry to hear about the side effects. It stinks when something works but the sides are as bad as or worse than what it's treating. Good luck on getting it worked out. Maybe have the ENT put you on something similar without all the sides.

I know you have been trying a lot to solve your sinus issues. I am sorry this one is not working out as you hoped. Good luck deciding what is best.

Thanks Johanne - I already eat no grains and no dairy - so it is not a food allergy. I have nasal polyps that have grown back after having had a surgery five years ago. They are prone to regrowth. I am trying to avoid surgery mainly due to the fact our co-pay is 20% - so if surgery is $20,000 - my part is $4000 which I absolutely do not have!

I figured you already had it covered. And, the only debt I have is medical left over from the years I was constantly hospitalized. I totally understand. That totally sucks!

I'm sorry, side effects are so frustrating! But I know you will figure it out!

Hi HCB. Sorry to hear your troubles. I did sneak a look at your food log. You do have butter on a daily basis. That is dairy. You have to cut it all out not just the milk and cheese. It made all the difference for me.

Sorry your having so many side effects, I agree stop and see if they go away and if they do don't use it again. The breathing could be serious & the red itchy skin could be a sign of being allergic. Good luck.

Red itchy skin is a sign of an allergic reaction ... the other symptoms may well be, also. Sorry about the side effects ... hope you find some relief soon.

HCB, have you just tried using a Nettie pot with a warm saline solution twice a day? Sorry I don't know much about sinus problems, I know it help a couple of friends that have terrible allergies

Thanks for the suggestions, Buddies. Yes, the butter is dairy - grassfed dairy and part of LCHF. It is not food related. it is not a simple sinus congestion or allergies. If it were, I could easily deal with it. This is a chronic issue that requires surgery that I am hoping to avoid. I see how the medicine effects weight loss and weight gain and that is part of my dilemma.

That is my point. Grassfed or not it is dairy and it can affect the sinuses. Til you completely cut dairy out you will never know. I suffered for years with cronic sinuses. Cutting it all and limiting beef meat and lymphatic drain massages sorted me out. Do you think I would ever go back?

Thanks Schmetterlinge34 - I will consider it.

That copay is a bummer! All the different remedies, pills, side effects, etc is why I decided to go for the surgery. I hope you find something that works or a box of money!
