Didn't check my weight this morning. I checked it a day or two ago and it showed I was up 2 pounds. I had coffee this morning and forget to weigh myself. I have been walking at least 13,000 steps a day and I still probably gained since last Sunday! I think it was the can of cashews that it took me 3 days to finish, although not a huge can. I don't log everything I eat when I know I am over my calories for the day. I log mostly to make sure I am getting enough protein. I did have one day when I had 3 pieces of bread, one at a time, when I felt starving in the late afternoon. With peanut butter on it. I have to try to just never go off my WOE, but I can only eat just so much fruit and vegetables.

I double checked my lab results. It shows a major Vitamin D deficiency. I am not used to seeing lab results for Vitamin D and there appear to be 3 different tests.
1 Vitamin D, 25-OH, Total.
Reference range >29.9 ng/ml Mine is low at 18.4

2 Vitamin D, 25-OH D3 mine is 17.2 with no reference range

3 Vitamin D, 25-OH D2 mine is 1.2 with no reference range. I googled it and found a reference range of 20-40

All the numbers are low. My doctor said to take Vitamin D3 supplements. The D2 levels seem really, really low. I think D2 is from food, and D3 is from sunlight. I do spend sometime outside but like most of us, try to protect the skin from the sun with sunscreen or long sleeves. Need to google if Vitamin D can be obsorbed through the scalp.

I always have to be worried about something. I forget to take pills sometimes because there is nothing I have to take daily. I counted the Vitamin D tablets I have left and it looks like I've taken over 30 of them which isn't bad since my doctor's appointment was about a month ago. I've put them in a pill box which has slots for each day of the week and a.m. and p.m

I may call my doctor's office to ask about the really low D2 number and to see when I can get it re-tested.

Where I’m from, everyone has low vitamin d because there’s is so little sun for months on end. I was rocking a 7 ng/ml at some point. I’ve been supplementing 2000iu a day and it has helped a lot. I have no idea about the two types you mention but sounds interesting!

Morticia - my doctor told me that several years ago. She said they really never tested for it in the past and once they did they found everyone was low. Probably due to sunscreen. Thanks Moko - I think it's hard to get Vitamin D from food unless you eat alot of fatty fish. I rarely eat fish. I drink milk which is fortified with it, but a servings is about 10% of daily requirements. Maybe I'll just pay attention to the total Vitamin D number - it's low but nothing like 1.2

D3 is absorbed better with K2. You can buy supplements with both. The health gurus online say to aim for a # above 50. It's an important marker for immunity, so do take the pills.
