Gave in and decided to have a molasses cookie! They've been in the freezer since Monday so I feel good about that. in the past those cookies and the box of drumsticks would all have been gone by Friday! Of course, it's only 2:30pm. I have had this mindset if I buy baked goods or some other snack while trying to lose weight that I just need to eat it all so it's out of the house and not tempting me. I want to have snacks in the house but just eat once in awhile.

Bobby needs a coat or jacket or whatever dog clothes are called. It is so cold when we walk in the mornings. I wear a coat. He doesn't shiver or anything but he has no undercoat. He's almost bald in places. He must be cold. He will stay all day or night on whatever bed the cats are sleeping on because there is usually a heated blanket. Yesterday when I went to pick up my new walking shoes I went to Petco to see what they had. They had something I liked but I wasn't sure about the size. And it was $28. Thought the last time I bought something like that it was around $15. Anyway, Petco told me I could bring it back if it didn't fit or bring Bobby in to try it on. I told them I'd come back. Then I came to my teeny, tiny town and went to the groomer's. She has been grooming all my dogs for as long as I've lived here. She has a small shop but it is super expensive. Probably because it is so small. I'd never buy dog or cat food there because it's double what I usually pay. I'll buy a little bag of snacks for Bobby and I've bought lots of cat collars. Anyway, she had something similar to what I saw at Petco. It was about $56! I told her I'd think about it. I like to support her, would hate for the grooming business to go away but I decided that was too much for something Bobby would only wear once in awhile. I took him for a walk this morning and I have an old jacket for him that I put on him. The velcro that closes underneath him was really too tight so halfway through the walk I undid it. So the rest of the walk it looked like he had a cape on, it just hooked aroung his neck. So far I like my new shoes. Tomato soup for dinner and another glass of milk to get the protein grams up. Only one gram of protein in the cookie so there is no nutritional reason to eat it. I just wanted it.

I'm glad you enjoyed your cookie. It can be a balancing act with snacks in the house. I bet Bobby was cute in his cape. lol It's better than nothing until you can find something. I'm glad you are liking your walking shoes!:)

Seeing Bobby in his cape in my mind made me smile. I keep treats like my favorite cookies & ice cream in the house so I can enjoy them occasionally. Back when my "extras" calories were lower I sometimes cut a cookie in half & ate some fruit with it for dessert. Savor it slowly. 😊

You can buy new velcro at even walmart and replace or add it just a few $$$. Easier if you have access to a sewing machine but you can hand sew it on. I have the same issue I think I need to eat them all to get them out of the house.

Thanks Navywife and Sherrye- 170 calories for 1 cookie! 14 in the container. I have to be careful but so far I'm pretty motivated to not mess up too bad. I kept the vest or jacket on him with the velcro closed around his middle and didn't undo it until we were almost home. I lost 40 pounds about 20 years ago when I was still working (at the time that's all I needed to lose). I was good with portion control. Every day I brought 1, just 1 Pecan Sandie. A package lasted a couple weeks. I was never tempted once I got home. Since I retired cookies are hard to resist. But I really want to see if I can do this! The cookie fit into my calorie allowance so I don't feel too guilty.

Thanks wholefoodnut. I actually just ordered something online. Bobby has gained some weight since I originally bought the existing vest when he wasn't full grown yet. I can't sew any better than I cook! I don't have a sewing machine and my eyes are so bad I doubt I could thread a needle.

I have the same mindset! I do much better on weeks when there are no treats in the house.

My dog had a lot of fur so he didn't need any clothes.

I am glad to hear that you like new shoes. Is Bobby a dog in the profile picture?

Thanks again wholefoodnut and SoftLife - I've thrown out many half bags of chips after deciding I just shouldn't eat them all. But other things, I just hurry up and finish. I've done it with Pop Tarts, and other breads. Thanks Morticia - poor Bobby, I've never had a dog without an undercoat or much fur. He doesn't shed. Thanks Anne - Bobby is in my profile picture. That was taken about 4 years ago before I had gained all my weight back and we were sitting in the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg, California. Kenna - what?

Thanks Navywife - I'm doing okay with the food and exercise right now but the weight isn't coming off.
