Fritzy 22's Journal, 14 Oct 22

I went to the pharmacy yesterday to pick up a prescription wearing one of my newly ironed t-shirts. No one seemed impressed with my wrinkle improved wardrobe. And the prescription wasn't ready. So I went to the local grocery store in the same center and spent another $50 on groceries after spending about $80 a day or two earlier. I think the biggest cost was buying just over a pound of ground beef and some coffee, other than that it was just grean beans for Bobby. I am becoming so price conscious and am tempted when I know something is really priced good. Almost gave in to buying ice cream that was under $4 and Fritos for $2.99 but somehow managed to resist both. I remembered what someone posted about how one day of eating junk can set you back about a week in the weight loss journey and I had done so well the previous 2 days.

I received a step counter I had ordered yesterday. It just counts steps, is really cheap but hopefully it will motivate me to move more. I had no idea how many steps I should walk but the other day on the local news they said an average adult should walk 8600 steps to prevent weight gain and an overweight person should walk 11,000 steps to reduce the odds of becoming obese. I don't know what an obese person should do who is trying to lose weight but I know I am nct walking close to either 8600 or 11k steps. I put the gadget in my pocket yesterday afternoon after finally figuring out how it works and got to 700 steps or so just walking around the house. I took Bobby for a quick walk this morning and walked about 3000 steps which is actually quite a bit further than I had been walking. I tend to obsess about things so am hoping I'll be motivated to get the number of steps up each day. I will try for a 3500 step walk tomorrow.

I saw 3 bucks on my street this morning and then turned a corner and saw another 4 deer. Hopefully I start seeing them on my property again. Not sure what was keeping them away but saw a sign on entering my neighborhood about a mountain lion sighting so maybe they were hiding for awhile.

That's a lot of steps. I'm hitting around 10k on average. It is how my pounds fell off for sure.

We had a bunch of deer in the yard today. I try to get over 10,000 steps a day and it is not always easy.

Hope they come back to your yard 😌 I miss seeing deer, especially bigger ones. First winter on this property so hoping to see them here. We have seen wild turkey so 🤞

Thanks Morticia - I still haven't seen deer in my yard which is so unusual. They are usually on my bank first thing in the morning, right before it gets light. I have a pond there that all the wildlife go to for water. It's dry now - just mud and leaves. I am trying to get it cleaned out and then add water to it. After my first walk I went out again! I can see I'll get obsessed about getting more and more steps in. I am surprised at how many steps I take just do things around the house and yard. I want to get to at least 8600 today and got it to 8200 before actually resetting the gadget. Thanks Halloween - I am sure the deer will be back, I've lived here for over 10 years and they all know me. Same with the turkeys, there were about a dozen here this morning.

Way to go with your step tracker! Glad you are seeing deer. Maybe on your property soon. My dogs like green beans, too.

Hey good for you for resisting junk food! I’ve also been very money conscious lately they make it so easy to be unhealthy. Proud of you and in this journey with you. Keep getting those steps up!

Hi I read your profile ( I think) I’m new to this. And I am like you, when I eat right( log food) I exercise. But when I don’t, I eat horrible and don’t move!

I just ordered a Fitbit yesterday and am hoping that it will motivate me to move more (and eat less)! I’m interested in seeing if you are motivated by your step counter as time goes by!

Great job on resisting the junk food! I too am becoming increasingly alarmed by the price of groceries!! My husband went to Sam's Club to get me my Premier Protein Shakes. A month ago they were $ 17.99, today they were $24.99! And eggs, we used to get them on sale for $1.29 for a dozen, today was $3.29!! I eat a lot of meat and protein heavy foods and they are just getting ridiculous. Hope you get some good walks in and hope the deer come back into your yard.💜💜

Thanks Navywife - I hope the deer come back to my house. I'm so used to them sleeping under my deck for shade and sometimes in between the shrubs in front of my porch, also for shade. The vet said to give Bobby grean beans to try to get him to lose a couple pounts. They fill him up when I mix with his dry and canned food. Thanks Hanimal - I went back to the pharmacy today for the prescription and I was tempted, again, to go to the market and get the ice cream. But I didn't, because of the effort of trying to get to 8600 steps! Thanks Jorissy - I have been doing okay with eating without the exercise during the hot summer. But when I spend time walking I tend to eat good. A few years ago I would walk at least 5 miles most days and sometimes up to 10. If I put in all that effort I wasn't going to mess it up with a Snickers bar or something. Thanks Broccolibabe - it's day one with my step counter and I'm already over 11,000 steps. I didn't realize how many steps I can get in just doing things around the house. I counted 50 steps from the room with my labtop to the sliding glass door in the master bedroom. So if I am up and moving for a few hours a day at least I think I will be able to get in 10k steps. I will walk further tomorrow and put on better walking shoes. Thanks Diana. I used to order protein shakes and other products from dietdirect.com. I like the shakes, they can either be shakes or pudding. They used to be about $15 for a box with 7 shakes. Kind of expensive but I just checked and they are the same. I like the Wonderslim products. They have shakes in chocolate, mocha and even salted caramel. My doctor told me not to use those kinds of products but I do once in a while because the shakes are 15 grams of protein and even more when I mix with milk. I don't buy much meat, but I think 1 1 /4 pounds of 85% leans ground beef was close to $9. Things like eggs and milk I need to buy otherwise I am shopping sales. I bought 2 small boxes of Cheerios - regular and honey nut. They were 2 boxes for $6. I know many people don't eat cereal but I will sometimes snack on dry cereal.

Kenna - ? Are you referring to inflation?
15 Oct 22 by member: Fritzy 22
Inflation is difficult and I am so happy you are conquering it and it''s effects on what you put in your shopping cart. More healthy shopping to you!
