Woke at a surprising 200.4 after going 600 over my RDI and 100 grams over my carb macro yesterday. I also ate double the sodium I should have. But I also burned enough calories to have an 1138 deficit at the end of the day, and I drank a ton of water and iced green tea, which flushed me out very nicely. I am down one pound from yesterday's waking weigh in. Targeting 1500 calories today to get back towards my daily target average of 1989.

Bill, maybe the extra sodium had you lose quite a bit of water. That might be the reason you're a little lighter. Hope I'm wrong and you lost a bit more that you thought :o)

Thanks, aBitFat. It turned out great. Flushing out the system worked out great. Got a 196.6 after working out, so more water and tea today!

Thanks, Jim. I'm pretty much doing that, but I found a small bug in the system. If I ate 2500 calories one day, then I would only eat 1500 the next and perhaps 2000 the next. By the day after that, the combined 1500 and 2000 would now allow me to eat 2500 again! So, it sort of went in repeating cycles. What I am doing now is largely the same in that I adjust immediately. So, I'm targeting 1500 calories today (which I use as a minimum). I'll probably eat a bit lighter than 1989 tomorrow, too.

OK, think I understand. Maybe quicker adjustments are yielding quicker results and smaller fluctuations? Whatever you're doing it's working.

Yes, I am striving for smaller fluctuations. Even yesterday at 600 over RDI is a radical departure from norm for me these days. I used to eat well over RDI several days in a row and then attempt to recover. Now I try to keep an even keel and adjust ASAP. The actual formula is...

Average daily calorie goal (1989) times the number of days in the month (today it's 9). So by the end of today, I want to have eaten 1989 x 9 = 17901 calories. By the end of yesterday, I had eaten 16497 calories. So today, I get 17901 minus 16497 = 1404 calories. Since I eat a minimum of 1500 every day, I will continue adjusting tomorrow in the same way until I'm back on the 1989 per day average.

OK got it, thanks for explaining. It's an excellent plan, I need to think more along those lines.

It really works for me, Jim. Even on days when I forget to log something, I actually add it to later days. So, to the best of my ability, I'm keeping it all logged.
