My new scale is giving me grief again. I noticed the scale at the doctor's office showed me about a pound heavier than my scale. When I get dressed in the morning I weigh myself as I put on each piece of clothing. I know my jeans weigh nearly a pound. Shoes vary. The scale gave me a weight early this morning that looked like I had lost .6 pounds. I weighed twice. The I went back to bed for an hour, got up and after going to the bathroom again it showed me up from yesterday's weight .2 pounds. It gave me that weight twice. Then I had coffee and found the old scale and noted the weight it gave me. Then weighed on the new scale and it was exactly one pound different. See how I fill my mornings with silly things? So I am not posting my weight today feeling like there is a minimal difference either up or down. But one thing I know is since June 14 I have lost 5 pounds and now have lost 10 pounds this year. Of my my goal on January 1 was to lose 5 pounds a month. So I have achieved the goal through February.

I think it's the low fat diet, although I did have 3 days of eating tacos which put me over my goal of 20-25% or less fat each day. I've been having a baked potato with barbecue sauce on it instead of butter and cheese. I just started adding a tablespoon of bacon bits because it adds a couple grams of protein and not enough fat to worry about and because I got 2 huge bags of them the last time the neighborhood lady who does Costco runs got them for me. I was going to make scrambled eggs but 2 eggs just was too much fat unless that's all I have for the day so I've been having a hard boiled egg on some days. I did thaw out about 6 ounces of boneless, skinless chicken breast to cook later.

Glad you are losing! Do you ever think of just weighing naked after you pee and calling it done? But if it does, in fact, fill your mornings... I guess you must enjoy it some. :)

why does it matter as long as it's going in the right direction? now, if you really want to obsess, you can start thinking about the variance due to your position relative to the sun during different times of the year, changes in temp and humidity, and that coffee weighs more than water due to the particulates.

Thanks DP. This morning I got up around 3am and weighed myself. Then went back to bed got up around 5:30 and peed and weighed myself. The scale showed me up nearly a pound from 3am. That's why I often weigh a couple times. And there have been times I step on the scale first thing in the morning and it shows me down 6 or 7 pounds! I know that's wrong. I would like it if I could trust the scale and weigh once and then go get coffee. Thanks Katsolo - I don't really want to obsess but it is my personality to be that way often. I agree that since it's going down it's good. And yes, after I think a 12 ounce mug of coffee my weight goes up about 2 pounds. I just accept that.

Quit weighing so much! Once a week and track your food not your weight. Drink adequate liquids. Exercise. Hang in there - I might catch up with you someday, hoping to lose 10 pounds this YEAR!

Thanks Diana. Thanks Kenna. Thanks Abbadabba - the point I was trying to make - not very well I guess is the scale keeps giving me different weights within seconds. When I weighed myself this morning at 3am I thought the loss seemed too much so I figured if it was still the same when I woke up later I would post it. But it was higher which doesn't make sense. I weigh myself daily right now. There are times when I weigh myself weekly or monthly but right now I am doing what works for me. Not everyone else, but for me.

Kenna - My old scale was wonderful for probably 20 years then started having problems. The new scale is the same brand and is okay. I should do what people are saying and just weigh once in the morning. But when the first weight I see is 3 pounds lower than the day before I don't trust the weight. I've thought about an old fashioned scale with no battery just the round dial that points to your weight!

You probably already do this, but do you ever scramble 1 whole egg and 1 egg white? Tastes the same as 2 eggs, just a little paler but just about the same amount of fat as 1 egg and some additional protein?

Thanks Broccolibabe - I haven't tried one egg white and one whole egg. There really isn't all that much fat in the eggs so I can work 2 into my day. But I can't scramble in butter and can't have cheese with the eggs. I'm figuring it out. It's hard right now because I am eating what is in the house until I go grocery shopping. And lots of canned food in the pantry has fat in it.
