jmb3450's Journal, 20 Oct 14

221 lbs this morning, half pound up from Friday. I'm happy with that considering there was a pig roast on Saturday and pot luck on Sunday plus I was still munching on leftover pulled pork last night. I had mostly protein and vegetables, stayed away from carbs and desserts, so no damage done and the smoked pork was delicious. Added bonus, my oldest daughter Jamie joined me in providing an hour of music Saturday after the meal. I used to have a band that included all 3 of my girls but we stopped playing a couple years ago as everyone's lives just got too busy. So it was a real blessing to be able to sing and play again with her. My oldest grandson who is 9 sat right in front and was very attentive to what we were doing, that was pretty neat. I tried giving him guitar lessons a couple years ago but he wasn't quite ready. I talked with him and he's interested in starting again. Hopefully this time he really wants to learn and is ready to put some time into it...it would be pure joy to be able to play music with him someday.

I'll be doing 16:8 IF all this week, hoping to get out of the 220's by Friday. It'd be great to be down to 210 or less by Thanksgiving, working on that goal.

Sounds like it was a good and delicious meal type weekend. It is awesome that you had a band that included your daughters. I have an electric and an acoustic gathering dust. You inspire me to strum some. Back on track, Jim. You'll be down in no time. Keep on picking. What type of music do you play - all kinds, bluegrass, country?

Br_E_Co - we played bluegrass/acoustic gospel music. The instrumentation was bluegrass but we often took music from contemporary groups and adapted it to work with what we did. Now I'm mostly playing in the worship band at my church, Saturday was the first gig outside of that I've done in almost 2 years...hopefully it'll lead to more stuff like it. Definitely get the dust off your guitars and do some playing!

Nice. So you're multi instrumental or guitar only?

I play guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, weissenborn guitar, and harmonica. Kind of a jack of all trades but master of none. What type of music do you play?

You can be at 218 by Friday :) I wish I had some musical ability I could sing my way out of a paper bag, much less keep the beat of someone trying to help, haha

You've inspired me - I think I'll do a 16:8 myself - just something to bring a little focus back on my WOE.

I love your multi instrumental achievement. I play anything really - mostly rock, pop, alt county - bluegrass is tough. I admire the skill.

Sounds like a wonderful time. Glad you got to flash back to the past and play with your daughter. How cool!
