In a week and a half, as long as all the last minute covid tests work out and the flight isn't canceled, I should be on my way to Germany with my oldest son and my husband. This has been a long awaited trip to visit friends that was planned long ago for last summer, but for obvious reasons was delayed. I am both excited and concerned about how I will manage my intake. There will be a lot of CI and CO, but I don't know that they will balance out perfectly. It will be a real test of my ability to manage my weight while away from all scales... both kitchen and bathroom. We will be gone for 4 weeks.

A few of you know our struggle to renew our son's passport that expired during covid. Very long story short, we were finally able to get a passport appointment for a few days before we depart. We expect they will be able to issue it in a few hours. We aren't too worried about that now, but it was so incredibly stressful trying to get that appointment. Every person in the country with this problems is routed through a single phone number and the appointments offered are extremely few, and you can only request an appointment two weeks before departure. Being on hold for hours is the reality for most and there is only one office in the state where you can go. It was such a relief! It was really hard to get excited about our trip until that was sorted, and it still is not feeling real. We have had to alter our plans significantly from our hoped for adventure and expect to be laying pretty low and just enjoying our friends and some day trips. There will be lots of walking adventures. I am just praying my knee holds up well.

I am feeling really blessed yet overwhelmed by all that needs to happen before departure. In the next week and a half I have the longest hours of work I have ever had. I am not likely to get much time at the gym, but I CAN control my calories! Right?? Of course, right! :) God help me!

Sadly cherry season is coming to an end. How happy it made me to nibble my way through this bowl of goodness!

Happy Tuesday, dear friends.

Thank you, mermee! AdaOke, I am trying on clothes now trying to decide what fits and I want to take. Sewing machine is busy taking in sides of a couple skirts I love but have been ready to fall down far too low. 😁 They used to the ones sitting at the back of the closet with me hoping I could somehow wear them again. ❤️

I am almost excited, Diana! I want to be, but I've held it in so long that I can't even much of anything yet. I do know the food will be so delightful! The ladies we know cook like you could hardly believe! Big families, Russian German... The food is unbelievable! We will be so spoiled! I will try to be careful but also enjoy every morsel that eat. There will also be lots of fresh vegetables and fruit and lots of walking to use up the daily desserts! Goodness! ❤️

Thank you sk! I am excited about the various delightful dishes I will get to experience. They might even rival some of yours! I will be taking pictures! I'll say they are to share with the "kids" back home but I'll be posting here! 😁 shertherapy, thank you. Sounds like a nice idea, but we are going carry on only for a month, so... Yeah. I'm just going to have to be careful and just make good choices. And.... Like sk said, I'll have some work to do when I get home. 😁

Thank you, Shrewdness! ❤️I'm a little worried for us too, but we want to go. We are all fully vaccinated. Everyone is required to wear the really good face masks in public... No cloth allowed and they are supposed to be the n9 or symilar masks. We do live in an area of some of the the highest percentages of vaccinated people in the states, so we do feel like we are stepping into deeper water by going, but I think we will be OK. 😁 My 18 year old boy is making a trip up to Sweden to spend time. With some friends there. He has not traveled let alone by himself internationally during a pandemic, so I am kind of concerned for him. He will have to be tested before going and before

I am a worry wart! 🙃 My girlfriend’s son started traveling internationally on his own all over the world at eighteen. All I saw was doom and gloom, yet he is thirty now and very knowledgeable and has been everywhere. 👍 Just have to loosen the reins, I am not good at that even with my horse.😁

Oh I'm not good either... Each of my girls has traveled to Germany to spend the summer... Two of them twice. The oldest wandered all over two summers ago to many different countries, frequently by herself. She always had a place to stay with at least friends of friends, but she had such adventures and near misses getting around sometiems. I am always terrified... When one of them was gon at a18, I couldn't get hold of her for a couple days... Had no idea what had happened. She was staying alone in a home while the friends had gone. Turned out she went camping with friends and though she would be able to contact us but there was no internet availability.

Lost my place, Shrewdness! ❤️ Anyway, yes... I have to very deliberately try to let them go into God's hands. I can't keep them safe even when I'm with them. I desperately want a real break from so much... And I hope I will be able to relax! 😁 And... Isn't it interesting that when we don't hold horses so tightly, they relax often? You know what I mean. Little "half halts" do better than a constant tension. 😁

Our friends are in Germany visiting family :). You’ll do great on your CICO. From what I can tell you seem to make good choices all the time so this trip shouldn’t be much different. Be sure to not restrict yourself too much though and enjoy some local foods! If your knees hold up and you end up doing a lot of walking then that will take care of an extra helping or a sweet for dessert usually. I read somewhere that it’s good to give your body a break and have a bit more from time to time. A diet break I guess. It seemed to help me break through plateaus. My daughter turned 15.5 and it was a nightmare trying to call and look online for an appointment for her test. We finally enrolled her in drivers ed and they handled some of it for us but hubby still had to take her for her permit test and eye exam. It was first come first serve so they had to get there like 2 hours before opening then wait an hour or two after opening to get everything done. Ridiculous! When I drive by the dmv it’s always empty whereas before there would be 2-3 customers inside. You can social distance with 2-3 customers just fine! Enjoy your trip and be safe!

Thanks, peeper! I wish I could agree that I always do well! I even went up 10 pounds from goal a few months back... Granted I had a massive tummy full, but that goes to show... 😁 If I can keep the gain small, I will be OK with that. I want to enjoy myself but not est mountains of German chocolate etc. Yeah, it is rather insane dealing with our dmv now too. We can make appointments, but they are at least a month out. How we all long for normalacy!

Enjoy the trip, and don't fret too much about the food. I am sure you can portion control and enjoy the culinary experience without going overboard

Hey, good luck with everything. Travel will be different for us now. As for RID, for me I know now about portion size and which foods are good to have a lot of! And those with danger all over them. It's hard to manage out of home, truth is you probably wont be able to stick to controlling, as options won't always be available. Main thing I would say is protein and fibre are key! Will you be reporting I while you're away?!
