Hunger is something you can get used to. Eating in a six hour window between 9am and 3pm has taught me that hunger is just a state of mind.

Having a full stomach is overrated. It’s not necessary…

People that haven't seen me in months due to Covid are startled by the weight I've lost. The universal question is, what are you doing? The uninspiring (to them) answer is simply, eating less and moving more. I tell them, its important to feel hungry at times during the day. When our bodies must turn to their energy stores to function, they loudly clang the alarm bell that is hunger - like a cat when she sees her empty food dish. I tell them, if your trying to lose weight, and you never feel hungry, its probably not working.

Sound advice gastropod. It takes work and some sacrifice to account for the years of overindulgence. There is no quick fix.

I'm not totally disagreeing with this, but I have to admit I've rarely been truly hungry while on this journey. I've had lots of cravings that I've had to battle, but they're usually about emotional eating, not true hunger. The times I find myself truly hungry are usually when I get so involved in some project and lose track of time. Then, when I do start thinking about mealtime, I realize that I am really hungry!

Shir, I’m kind of with you, I’m rarely “hungry”. I think the point is that some sacrifices have to be made. And yoga yes you are on the right path foe sure. Thanks to you both.

Oh, I definitely agree about making sacrifices. I can find lots of low calorie foods to keep me from being hungry, and I can even eat any food I choose to. The difference is in quantity. I can eat a big bowl of salad every day without exceeding my RDI, but when I eat rice and gravy or a baked potato or similar high calorie foods, I definitely have to settle for a smaller portion than I would prefer. And therein lies the temptation and, hopefully, the sacrifice.
