FullaBella's Journal, 05 May 14

Monday - Happy Cinco De Mayo. Funny, this weekend at the 'Tea' one of the ladies asked me 'are weekends hard for you?' and my answer was 'oh, yes, indeed.' But SHE was asking based on me being the only widow in the group, recently widowed at that. I was answering based on 'they aren't long enough for me to do all the things I want to do besides work.' Only I didn't answer that. I just said,'Yes.' She has been divorced 30 years and said weekends are still hard for her. I wanted say, 'then you're not doing it right'. But that's my perception, not hers. And, for those of you who have read my journals for a while, yes, Sunday's were a bit tough there during the winter because I was cold and miserable locked inside with nothing to do. NOW.. oh my... I could spend all day in my back yard ... that is.. once I get home from the garden store. Love it.

All things Food on Sunday? A little weird; off the charts for me. Kaddy cancelled the theater like.. an hour before. Seriously? An hour 'before' she decided she couldn't go? Oh well. Was glad I got the email (yeah, couldn't even PHONE) BEFORE I got all showered and slicked up and just drove to her house.

So Mushy and I went to a flea market and then the garden store and by then I was hungry but 'yay' did NOT pull into Dairy Queen but 'ugh' did come home and have two large plates of french fries. It was what I wanted; have been wanting them for a while. So I did. And in the logic that many people use here, even with the sugar free chocolate pudding I had in the evening (yes, I ate like I was seven years old all day) I still didn't go over my RDI BUT I know that I didn't get the best nutrition I could have given my body for the day. Today is a new day. Tuna for brunch. Plenty of water. Sipping green tea.

That's about it. Thanks for stopping to visit me. Have not had a single customer all day so I've been lost in internet funnies and am going to some with y'all.

Take care.

French fries can be relatively healthy. I make mine at home with just sliced potatoes and olive oil on a cookie sheet (no salt). They were yummy! It was a lot of work slicing up the potatoes, but definitely a nice thing to have once in a while when I feel like having fries. I understand about the weekend not being long enough. Usually my weekends are just as busy as the weekdays, just in a different way. Sometimes I don't even have the opportunity to relax! But it's a different, more fun kind of busyness, so it's not that bad :) I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying working in your yard. I've been really grateful for and enjoying the nice weather too. I love to walk when it's nice, sometimes to run errands on foot in the city. So nice :) I hope you have a great week!

I like recovery days. Chocolate pudding and fries calls for lots of water and green tea, you are doing the right thing. That was pretty rude of Kaddy, last minute and in an email. Picking up phone really is not that difficult. By the way if I am alone does that mean I am most like myself? I better find five people fast, LOL! Oh well, here's to a lovely week. I hope you have special plans for your upcoming B-Day!

You ate what you loved, Angel, and knowing you as I think I do, you loved it while you ate it. And if you stayed within your RDI, you must have only eaten to just right fullness. So, good for you! That's what being mindful is all about. Balancing out what you love with what you need over time. I'm trying to get there too, and getting better at accepting that it's ok to sometimes choose to have foods that aren't the most nutritious. For me too, it's important to remember that it's also ok to eat to a more full point, as it naturally balances out too. Xoxox

LOL...I so get how much you enjoy spending time in the garden AFTER going to the flower store as I call it. IDK, but I always have these amazing ideas of where to put this flower & that plant...till I get home & then the whole plan falls apart, BUT, sometimes all it takes is just one more quick trip BACK to the flower store to fix it....yup, that's just me?

Thank you everyone for stopping and commenting. Yeah, it's amazing.. these phones these days are so smart but are used for anything but dialing and politeness, at least that's IMHO. GG - I had that a lot in the beginning but now I think about it more. I don't make quick trips back... I just wait til the next day :-) I figure those flowers have been doing quite well in their own pots at the garden center, they can last another day while I figure it all out.

Hmmm, which is more rude, an email or a text message? I would never have received the email, as I only check my email once every blue moon :-) lol. Either way, she should have called, or better yet just stuck with the plan. Glad you still made the most of your day. I need to spend more time in my flower beds but I've just been so overwhelmed with life, and I need the money to buy stuff for the flower bed. Always something isn't it? Happy Cinco De Mayo, I should have celebrated with some margaritas and chili rellenos, seeing as how the evening went calorie wise anyway... alas, hindsight is 20/20 :-)

Bella, I can;'t believe your friend didn't have the courtesy to call you in person. What if you had missed the email? I don't check my emails every minute. Text at least beeps at ya. Glad you made the best of the day though and got out and about. And I'm delighted that your church is so sustaining. We all need a place like that. You are fortunate that yours is outside your back door. I wouldn't know where to begin to create a space like that in my backyard. First issue being I hate/loath/can't stand gardening :) But love to relax in a nice one :) And I'm glad that week-ends aren't hard for you because you are a widow but because they aren't long enough. Also glad you didn't waste the day but got out and did some other fun stuff. I use my RDI as a guide. I have always calorie counted even though on Atkins you aren't supposed to 'need' to but I can't lose if I eat much more than 1200-1300 calories a day. And I do 'use' the knowledge that I have extra left to indulge more than I should sometimes, to justify that if I have space left it's okay to eat 'this' or 'that'. Probably not the smartest thing to do but we each do what works for us. All in all you sound like you are in a good place. But you definitely need to get some communication with your friend Kady that last minute cancellation by email isn't acceptable. I mean, really! Sending you a hug because I haven't hugged you lately :) [[[hugs]]]

Kaddy is my SIL ... and she sent both - text and email but to me a text is as foreign as an email as I don't live with my phone in my hand like most folks these days. I do consider it impolite as well esp as I looked at the time stamp and it was less than 2 hours before we were to meet and her reasoning wasn't an emergency so .. rude and cowardly. ON the other hand, I much more enjoyed being outside than stuck inside a theater on Sunday so while I wasn't that disappointed at the cancellation I'm going to be slower at accepting her invitations anywhere else for a loooong time.

I hear you Bella....I just have a three day weekend and it still wasn't long enough! Kaddy is very bad mannered - would definitely play it cautious the next time you plan something with her! On the up side it sounds like you day turned out better without her :)

30 years and the weekends are still hard??? Holy cow. What does this woman do on the weekends?! The last minute cancellation does just sound rude and how Kaddy did it just sounds cowardly. On the plus side.. you have a back yard to play in! When you get tired of your back yard you can come play in mine. :)

Those funnies are great! I have to share a few with my daughter. She'll love the first one especially. I'm glad you got the fries... sometimes you've got to give yourself what you've been needing, so you don't explode. And so what if that means pudding too! LOL! It sounds like you made it all work out anyway. Glad you got to enjoy the day, rather than being in a theater. By us, it was a BEAUTIFUL DAY! Sounds like it was by you too. Being outside is so much better. BTW, thank you again for the advice on the artificial sweeteners. I soooo agree... but I do use some of the durned things.
