Last summer I was feeling so good and so strong and was managing my maintenance so well. Now I feel a bit like these newly pruned and sad looking sticks. I know the potential in those bare and spiky rose canes. They will bloom and produce again like last summer. There is an analogy here for all of us... well, I am holding onto it for me anyway! New days bring new challenges and new rewards. I can't wait for my bushes to bloom again... but I can only wait. I have to work for the changes in me.

I feel you Melissa and what a great analogy! A year ago I was also maintaining and it seemed effortless at the time. These days I feel like I'm working really hard and really trying to get things under control, but just not getting back there. I'm trying to put in the work now too - and looking forward to seeing the bloom for both of us! We will get there! Hope you are keeping well! xxx

it's been a long, tough year, melissa - your roses will bloom - just like you will, sunny days to come.

Stick with it, you will get there again! I'm sure your flowers will be blooming soon! What is the name of the bush with the reddish flowers? I love those and would like to find some

I love your analogy and it's true. Last year your roses were amazing all growing season. I can't wait to enjoy your blooms again this year. Your hyacinths already look amazing. Mine are just starting to break ground. Happy gardening!!!

Thank you Nikina. ❤️ Having to lose again is not where any of us any to be. This journey isn't short term... And everything in life has its impact. We can do it! Br_e_co, hasn't been a loooooong time since... A week ago? Thanks for all your support, always!😊 Dear Becky, I am so happy you are here! 🤗 Shrewdness, I don't know why you are so nice to me, 💕 but man... I have noticed and it has been such an encouragement. I'm sorry I'm so lame at supporting right now. I will be able to more soon I hope. 💕

Thank you, Hiker! Do you mean the roses in the bottom left corner? They are "Dark Desire!" They are my latest to bloom in the spring, but they are wonderfully disease resistant, and from knee high at pruning grow to way over my head in one season. The blooms are more of a dark purple on the edges and are reddish toward the center. If you look them up, you can see they either have a typical rose petal pattern or dual centers. Mine has both! It is one of my favorites!

Yes, Trigger! ❤️ Thank you, John. Check your pms. This is a tough time for many of us I think. Isn't spring wonderful though? Your hyacinths will be perfuming the air soon like mine! 😁 Thank you dboza and Sarah! Flowers are so special. I'm very grateful!

trackin64, yes! Isn't it time for summer? How I hate the long, dark nights and grey, cloudy days! Bring on the color!

Thank you, Cynthia! marpingo21, I'm sorry, but we are trudging along and not giving up. If this was easy, none of us would be here! Hang in there! 😊

These are not normal times for any of us. Most of our “normals” have changed drastically. We are getting through this. We are close but still have a ways to go. Everyone needs to give themselves some slack, but not an excuse to totally derail. That will not help to keep us on our mental game. Our mental states are as important as our physical.
