More crazy numbers on the scale tonight, but we're in it for the long haul. I did eat a lot more today than I did yesterday, so not as big a shock to have gained a few during the day.

I have to look up the Tanita Scale/Numbers. I'm not familiar with it.

I agree. Can't let the daily numbers upset you as the overall picture looks great. There will always be a daily fluctuation. ;)

I've been thinking about how your numbers move a bit up and down. I can't help but think that it has at least a little to do with your total body water pct being down. I know that the reason they don't suggest doing this first thing in the morning is that you are dehydrated. I had an idea that you might try to get a little piece of mind until the numbers level out. How about dropping your stats into an Excel spreadsheet and just keeping a seven-day moving average of them. I really think that would give you a much better (and stable) picture of your stats. I think I'm going to try this for my numbers as well.

Bill, like you I take figures every day, and like you my figures seem to be all over the place, sometimes with a reason I can easily understand, but others I'm left just shaking my head. Im going to continue to keep an eye on things every day, but Im only recording them two to three times a week. Im finding weekends are the most volatile, but then I do tend to drink a wee bit of alcohol then and less (a lot less) during the week, also if Im going to OD on carbs, the weekend seems to be the worst time. SO for me its all about overall trends, as others have said, because realistically unless I eat, drink and exercise exactly the same every day how can I expect a truly accurate set of numbers each day?
